Reel service

hi everyone. I am starting a reel servicing small business to get some money towards a car. I have done a few and they have turned out perfect, much better with the salt water and sand being cleaned out. I also grease the drag and go through all the parts and lubricate and grease them if need be.

currently I charge $15 per reel. Located SOR near Rossmoyne. I have the next few weekend free if anyone would like theirs done!

Needed some retail therapy

So I was having a bit of a downer day and decided that a bit of retail therapy was called for. Thankfully for me, Getaway outdoors (Cockburn) was having a bit of a sale. I walked in there looking for some 15lb braid and ended up walking out spending nearly $400, part of which was a new Fin Nor 8000 reel, packed with 30lb line. Didn't end up getting the 15lb line though.

Big thanks to Kenny, their fishing specialist, who taught me a few things and sent me packing with some gear.

Always good to have a knowledgeable person to interact with customers and share knowlege

Rock walls this weekend

So who's going to fish the rock walls this weekend. May head to Mindarie Saturday arvo/evening to chase some snapper.

V8 Yamaha flywheel

Received a letter from Yamaha Aust tell of the need to replace the flywheel and electronic control unit to be replaced on our twin 300s on the rescue boat.

The new ECU will give a warning when 80 hours in the rev range of between 3400 and 4250 is reached so that a new flywheel can be fitted at each required 100 hour service. The flywheel replacement is of no cost to the owner.
The reason behind it is that the flywheels are more like a harmonic balancer and are rubber mounted, if the rubber fails there is vibration and it can cause the crankshaft to snap.

Round 12

Gets underway tomorrow night, Hawks V Crows, aside from that, not much interest for the rest of the weekend, but being at home, I'll catch up with most games.

not fishing related but need HELP- spilled milk through my passenger seat and car carpet.. Fargen stinks to high hell!!

Did a very stupid thing, a two litre bottle of milk emptied into my front passenger seat and into the floor carpet. This was on Sunday and seriously it is fargen puke material in my Patrol at the moment.. It's enough to make a skunk vomit....

Any ideas on how to clean it out..

I've had advise such as;

sprinkle milo on it

load the car with cats

drill hole in the floor and run a hose through it for HOURS...

sell the car

etc etc

any advise is appreciated...

Cheers,  JJ

Fishing Buddy (Rockingham).

I have recently sold my fishing boat and I'm currently suffering withdrawal until I get another one.

I have all the fishing gear needed from bottom bouncing to chasing Marlin, but at the moment no boat. I would very much appreciate an invite out with any like minded people who live in the Rockinham area are needing crew on thier boat on any weekend. I would naturally pay fuel and bait etc. I'm an ex crayfisherman and lots of experience on the water and don't get sea sick, I enjoy a beer and the footy and generally get along with most people. I'm 45yrs  (going on 30 -60)

Regards
Trevor

Anybody had / have a polycraft?

looking for some feedback from owners of polycraft boats.

How long  have you had them?

Are they really as good as the advertising let's on? Tough and smooth ride? How is the stability at rest?

Do they flex around a heap?

how is the maintenance?

I have done a bit of a search, but just looking for a bit more upto date info.

I  have seen a wicked deal on Gumtree for one.

120W solar panels

 Hi guys

I know very little about them so asking the questions. Just wondering if this solar panel looks the goods, decent panels, regulator etc?  Has anyone bought this particular one, or does anyone have a link to one that they have bought and it has proven itself to be a good buy.

boat ramp spill

I fell and did my knee , should I sue

Sorted.

The powerpoints and fridge are working fine in my Jayco Hawk but the lights have stopped working for some reason.  I have no knowledge of electrics but I'm guessing it's just a circuit thing... I've had a look around for anything that might be obvious to the uninformed but nothing's jumped out at me.

Anyone got any advice on where I should be looking or if you're SOR and want some quick cash or a slab can you PM me or give me a buzz / text 0430 172 671?

Cheers

Could pass up on this one with all the discussion on Ryan Crowley, no doubt they will be glad to see no more of him.

Beejaling shoal trip

Took mate Dave for a run up to Beejaling shoals today to wet a line and give the boat a run. The conditions were bloody tough and for a while I was in 2 minds on whether to turn round and head for shelter.
The first 2 pics are of the Fascine in Carnarvon as we were leaving at 0730, the third is when we decided to get our sea legs back together and have a feed around 1030.

Finished up with 3 pinkies, two black snapper [one was a good one], a crimson sea perch and a good estuary cod. Lost a good broad bar mackerel estimated around 15kg from having no gaff, a couple of unstoppable cod and heaps of small pinkies and grassies released. All up a good relaxing day

boat transport interstate?

Penguin Island Sandbar: Drowning Settlement.

Just don't know what to think about this.

Maybe my attitude is all wrong-and I should think  "good on em" - They sued the State Goverment for undisclosed sum.

I do know that no sum of money can bring back loved ones...but- there are a two large Warning Signs on the beaches, clearly warning of the Dangers of attempting to walk across the Sandbar.

Nobody forced them to attempt the crossing. There is a safer method, pay the small price for the Ferry and arrive safely back on the mainland.

You have to actually walk past the Ferry to attempt the Crossing.

Huge GW Footage

Geezus that thing is huge and we apparently get these size models in perth waters .. bugger that , diving is off my bucket list .

( Might be old footage don’t know , but first time I’ve seen it )

Round 11

The Eagles to bounce back with a win against Essendoping with King Darling back in the side. Are Collingwood the new flat track bullies? Their seven wins from the bottom seven sides, imposters methinks. Well we'll find out this weekend GWS for me . And because I'm not tipping GC over the Shockers, Sydney just over North and I think Melbourne might stand up this week over the Saints.
