Anyone in Exmouth
Submitted by eziliving on Sat, 2016-09-24 14:16Hi guys just wondering if someone is able to do a block inection for inspection for me. I've got a letter from the council saying that I need to ensure that it is clear. It is a canal block and all I need some photos of the property to determine if I need to do anything. Willing to buy a carton of your flavour or transfer the funds into your account if you are able to help. I suspect that there won't be much if any as there wasn't last year. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Travelling North?
Submitted by carnarvonite on Thu, 2016-09-22 17:42For those planning to travel north in the near future it will pay to be on the look out for roos from Billabong through to turn off. Drove up to Exmouth on Sunday arvo and there was no shortage of fresh bodies on the roadside, returned to Wooramel Tuesday then off to Gero on Wednesday and back Thursday with approx. the same amount of carcasses on the roadside as well.
For those who like to break the trip north up, give Wooramel roadhouse a bit of consideration. Cost for a budget donga room with either two single beds or a single and bunk beds for kids is $30 a night. In the near future there will be ensuite rooms with a double bed on offer. A camp kitchen is available for those wishing to cook their own food or grab a meal from the roadhouse, hot food cooking closes at 1815

Johnston St boat ramp Mosman Park - ramp damaged
Submitted by Gezzza on Thu, 2016-09-22 09:10Hi Everyone
I recently used the above ramp and found that it was damaged as it was missing about 6 concrete blocks in the middle at the back of the ramp.
Has anyone else used the ramp and found it to be in this condition and if so did you happen to advise the Mosman Park council or has it been this way for ages.
Does anyone know if there are plans to repair it as it wasn't that much fun getting a 6.4m boat & trailer back out even with a 4WD.
Note the drop off in the section missing the blocks was about 15cm but if someone has driven onto trailer recently this could easily blow out to 25 or 30cm which may be enough to bottom out your trailer frame or axle/s and duplicate the result below.
Thanks
Regards
Gezzza

Man Sinks Another Man's Boat
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sun, 2016-09-18 17:39au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/32642149/man-charged-over-boat-ramp-attack/
Sheesh you'd have to really piss someone off or they'd have to be a particularly vindictive bastard to have your boat sunk.
Just goes to show that you never know who you are dealing with when you confront someone at the ramp or on the road.

AFL Semi Finals
Submitted by chris raff on Fri, 2016-09-16 16:09Hawks vs Bulldogs .. thinking the bulldogs for some unbeknown reason or maybe it’s wishful thinking . It’ll be interesting to see what the Hawks pull out of the hat , I noticed last week their sheperding the man on the mark was fairly pronounced and apparently within the rules , The Bullies are going to have to stand up and not take a step back because we know the hawks will be fairly unsociable .

Gun laws again seem to be on the radar!
Submitted by timboon on Wed, 2016-09-14 21:34I havent caught the full story of whats been going on in the real world as i'm working in the Pilbara atm but it seems like the gun laws are again being debated.
I am so sick of wankers that think gun ownership is some sort of taboo thing and we're all nutcases because we have them.
Responsible lisence holding gun owners for the most part do the righty.
The dickheads will always be able to access an illegal gun if they try hard enough.
I dont view my rifles/shotty to be any different to the golf clubs or surf boards or fishing rods i have.
They are just part of me and my upbringing.
I hope if they try any funny business that people again jump off the major parties and this time jump on the fishing and shooters party like they did for One nation.
It seems the only way to get common sense back in this country is to speak with you're feet and give the two majors the flick.

Solar Power Leasing
Submitted by Pezdog on Tue, 2016-09-13 15:46Hi guys
I know the solar thing gets flogged on here but couldn't find info on Solar leasing.
Just had a door knocker (always a red flag for me). Explained that they offer no upfront cost on the installation of the panels and inverter and they just take the difference from what the power bill would have been to what it is with the panels in place until this amount equals the initial cost. (hope that made sense).
Just wondering if anyone has seen/heard anything sililar either good or bad?

Thief ( not fishing )
Submitted by grantarctic1 on Sun, 2016-09-11 16:33So coming back to work on Friday (Bayswater), I find that one of my workers along with a neighbour business owner had apprehended this piece of filth.
My worker (Chad) witnessed him run into a business office while the owner went out the back. He quickly came out, got on his bike and took off at pace. Chad quickly got the attention of the man just robbed, and both got into his car to pursue.
In short time they found him and apprehended him. Straight away the thief started beg and cry for them to let him go, he cried for them to just bash him and not call the police. So Chad called the police immediately. LOL.
The man he stole from works 7 days a week, 12hours a day and the $2200 was all the money he had in this world. In his line of work he has to have the cash on hand but will probably keep it more secure from now on.
If admin want to delete this post, I understand. I just wanted to share his picture because he will be out on Monday and has been targeting businesses and homes in the Eastern suburbs for some time. I can name him, but unsure if admin would be ok with that.
Cheers Grant .

Fuel issue help needed
Submitted by choc on Sat, 2016-09-10 08:52Hi guys
Got a problem with the fuel getting to the motor when I'm going faster.
When I start the motor it starts fine and will idle no worries. I can drive all day at low speed5-8 knots but when I give it 3/4 to full throttle it starves of fuel. I have a 40hp Yamaha 2 stroke and it is running off jerry can fuel tank. Every time it starts to run out the fuel bulb on the fuel line is sucked in. I have made sure the breather is open on the cap. It has been fine for years and only did it for the first time last week after a service done by boat shop I put a new fuel line on but still same problem
Any ideas?

Pics from the early days...
Submitted by Rob H on Wed, 2016-09-07 22:56Not even sure why Im putting these up here, maybe us old fuckers like looking in the rear view mirror too much?
Came across a heap more old photos, for anyone who has an interest.
These span from mid 90's charters in Coral bay, late 90's and 2000's longlining for swordies tuna and later sharks.
First boat I ever skippered, the Norstar (otherwise known as the Snorestar
)
That blue handled Fdick knife travelled with me everywhere, until about a year back when a scabby seagul knocked it overboard at the Abrolhos

Hows this for a blast from the past...

Swiss Danny, a top bloke and gun decky. Through the wonders of Facebook still in contact and he has an olive grove and chalets in Tuscany.
One of those incredible coincidences-in about 1999, Boxing Day I flew into Zurich to visit my sister and literally bumped straight into him in the airport, 10 seconds either way and I wouldnt have known...

Coral Bay, mid 90's

A good mate, who has long since passed, Bill Gibbings from Albany
EDIT-on closer inspection it is actually Vin!

One of my ace deckies, who went on to make 5 more ace deckies for me

This pic is the early days on the little Starfire, a 48 ft Westcoaster
Unloading my home port Geraldton

Starfire heavily loaded with bigeye, YF and swords

Radio beacon crushed from being dragged down very deep by big fish.
I like this pic, maybe just triggers a subliminal memory of a happy day amongst the grindingly hard work you dont see or something?

Killing a tuna

and thats it for now, later maybe Ill chuck up some more if there is any interest, or just put them on Farcebook otherwise

Lifting boat off trailer - new product
Submitted by bradz on Wed, 2016-09-07 10:40Hi guys
Ive come across this product which I am probably going to buy. It looks like a damn good idea...if not a little expensive. Has anybody seen or used one of these before? It allows you to jack the boat off the trailer and then remove the trailer safely. The screw jacks will also allow for easy raising and lowering when adjusting bunks and rollers on the trailer.
boatstands.com/product/manual-boat-lifting-system/
I have started my project boat (I'll only post pics and details once I have finished, just in case I completely stuff it up) and will need something similar to help remove the boat from the trailer, build a cradle underneath, and then place it back gently afterwards.
Is this something any of you lot would be interested in using after I have finish with it? Mind you, I intend to have boats and trailer for many years to come so I have no doubt I'll use it at least a few more times after this job.

Bit the bullet
Submitted by Dale on Sun, 2016-09-04 09:59Well as some would know, I've gone out and bought Hezzy's dinghy from him. Hoping to get out into the sound before the pinky closure comes around, but if not, there's always next year. Already got a nice little dragonfly sounder gps combo for it, battery and electrics next, floor to go in soon and a couple of other mods over time. But it's been far too long, so here's to some good fishing.
