HI guys.

I was looking at getting myself a snare, however havent ever tried this before.

i am mainly looking to snorkel/freedive in relatively shallow water, particulalry around rotto, eventaullay may renew my tickect and venture out deeper.

just wondering if any advice on what to look for? brands etc? i have heard the odysea loops r ok? also what is the difference with the lenghts?

any advice greatly aprecoated, and if i ahve fogotten anything please enlighten me!

Hey all

My 2500 stradic ci4 handle won't wind. It has seized up. Always wash down with fresh water and dry it. Has recently been used almost daily and did go for a short swim off the Yak but was washed down immediately. 

Any ideas and ways to fix?

The Canal Rocks Action Group has organized a rally to show support to keep the boat ramp open , despite being shown that the report that the Minister has got his information from , is flawed , the government is still trying to push ahead with closing this Ramp.
Canal Rocks Ramp has been operating for 70 years with ought any major accident ( an ambulance has never been called for an accident on the ramp!), the government wishes to close the ramp due to safety concerns , if this can happen to Canal Rocks it could happen to MOST OPEN WATER RAMPS IN OUR STATE!
Canal Rocks Ramp is the only ramp in the Area servicing our small coastal community , the closure of this ramp will see the old Dunsborough ramp , Quindalup and Gracetown have to cater for the increase , all extremely busy ramps already.
The Naturaliste Volunteer Marine Rescue appose this closure as will add hour(s) to a rescue on this side of the Cape.
The Rally is happening at 3pm this Saturday (13th), Shuttle bus and parking has been organized along Canal Rocks Road , as well as our local football club putting on a sausage sizzle , there will be guest speakers including Taj Burrows and Jake Patterson .

I'm soon heading to Mandurah and will be leaving the 6.15m ali boat in the water for about 5 nights. Will be doing a mix of fishing, crabbing and family cruises. My folks are ex locals and have a few good spots ready to hit up.

Anyone have any tips, particlarly in regards to leaving the boat in the water.

I'm also unsure as to the availability of trailer parking at the accomodation, if there is none available, does anyone know anywhere safe to leave it for a few nights?

 Hi guys , can anyone tell me how to remove the info bar on the RHS of my HD’s 7 gen 3 touch so I have full map screen? My last unit was a regular HD’s 7 and I didn’t have this info , I’ve mucked around with it several times with no success? Help! 

 Just for interest on sounder pics I pulled this off this the week before th ban ended on the first drop with a 120 gm jig targeting Sambos , the  Furuno 588 is pretty hard to beat in my opinion .

 Planning a trip to kuala rompin end of August/ early September to have 2 days out chasing sailfish. Will be going with wife and kids ( not on the boat)                                                                               Looking for a few other anglers to share charter costs.  Have a few charter boats in mind but open to any suggestions from fishwreckers -please comment.  Hope you can come ! I understand that the whites have been and gone and they are out deep now. Do they come back at all or do they stay out deep?

 Gday fishos ill start off with this is a great forum and awesome community so looking forward to contributing more. Basically we have a 1990 yamaha 40 HP 4-stroke from my grandfather and me and dad are in the process of trying to get it up and running again so ive got a few questions so bear with me.

So the engine hasnt been run in around 10 years (only have an idea) most of which has been in our garage. Aside from a bit of surface rust on the exterior it seems to be in pretty good condition but this is just looking on the outside. Dad has already removed the carbs and taken them apart to check their condition and they were looking pretty sweet execpet for a few seals which we have already replaced. Thermostat was buggered, spark plugs need replacing and we've just removed the lower leg so we can replace the water pump and we have the parts for all that on the way. If ive missed any other details let me know. Ill put some pictures in on the exterior of the engine. 

So here's where we need some help (see pictures below the question if it helps)

We have basically no experience in terms of prepping an engine after this amount of time of not being used or boat engines to begin with so what other things should we be looking at to make sure its good to go or even if it will start at all? Done some research for replacing fuel lines but any other info would be a big help

As i said thermostat was buggered and there's still lots of crap from where it was, whats the best way to clean this out?

One of the other issues with the motor is the tilt as seized from rust. Any ideas on how we can fix this or are we better off replacing whatever parts need replacing? 

Also near the water pump under the damper seal (just going off diagrams online) the metal looks like its been pretty corroded will this be an issues later on even after the seal is replaced?

Last question is when we removed the lower leg there was quite a lot of oil around the water pump. We arent sure if this is normal or because we had the engine on its side for a while or if there might be a leak somewhere. Any idea which it could be and if its a leak where it might be from? In the above picture the water block was completely full of oil which we wiped out.

Asking a lot but basically any info on the questions ive asked or other things that i havent mentioned would be really appreciated

This year its the 50th GAMEX and it was allways going to be a big one, but with Eddie finally cracking the grander blue it is set to be massive. We will be having a real crack at it too, and we feel that we have the crew and the vessel to be in the mix. With our first Exmouth comp going very well, taking out champion boat Marlin and combined in the most recent comp (2017 Billfish Bonanza). We where the only boat to manage to tag Marlin in very avarage fishing conditions and hooking a Marlin Grandslam on the first day. Since then we have put in a lot of time learning even more about the Exmouth grounds, and testing new gear and techniques. Including a few overnight trips refining day and night Broadbil Sworfish fishing techniques. With a new catagory this year just for Broadbill we wanted to get a head start.

We are still looking for a crew for GAMEX and AIBT. The Australian International Billfish Tournament is a 3 day tag and release comp running 13th to the 16th of March. Gamex is WA's biggest fishing comp running 16th to the 24th of March, with 6 days fishing. We will be fishing both comps, targeting Billfish and large Pelagis trolling lures and baits, running 10-60kg stand up. We will also spend time targeting Broadbill Swordfish during the day during both comps. We are taking expressions of intrest from groups and individuals to fish with us. The ideal number for game fishing is 4 people but 6-8 or more is still fine just less time on the rod each.

 Went into the 50m mark out from Bunbury got our bag of fish . Newcomer Simmo got a nice fish on jig about 17 kg . Snapper and break sea filled up the rest . The estuary is firing for crabs best it's been in years I reckon.

 Took the young bloke out wide for a bash on Thursday and in between the grey band , dhuies and nearly every other demersal species around he pulled this flatty which went 81cm and just over 3kg

 Looking at throwing a new sounder and plotter on the inlaws boat.....

Going to get the Furuno 628 sounder but shopping around for a plotter.....

Does anyone know anything about the ONWA gear? 

Not looking at breaking the bank to upgrade their gear on a boat that doesnt get used enough but still want something reasonable....

 Hi All, Ive been out to eshed a few times for mulloway before because my friend was trying to get one and i just tagged along, Personally i think im using the wrong rig maybe and dont know what I should use. im using a paternoster with one line coming off to a circle hook snelled to a livebait hook and using live scallies as bait.

what rig should i use and is there any other good baits?

 Hi guys. Iam looking at buying a Hema 7  track navigation unit but been told that I could down load an AP for my iPad  for around $ 150. Plus I need a GPS type receiver for my IPad for when it's out of phone service range .

Can anyone recommend whether this is a better way to go and which GPS receiver unit I should purchase .

Recently a good mate of mine tooke me on my first outing targeting yellow fin whiting on poppers. i have caught heaps of yellow fin before but always on bait..... I never had any luck on lures until yesterday. I had some success due to his guidance on how to use lures properly and now im hooked (mind the pun) its all i can think about.

I was wondering if i could get peoples opinions on retrieval techniques and what works best for you. Im not asking for spots to fish. just what you may have learned in your time targeting these little pocket rockets of the shallows.

But this one tops my list of incredibly steep.......would never even consider it in anything less than a  fourby, you must have negligable swell .....yet this is on the Great Ocean Road a little east of Port Campbell (and that is another story as they use a crane to lift boats in and out) and hence on the Southern Ocean.  Two boats had braved the conditions when we were there and the Southerly was just building up......stuff that for a game of soldiers!

 Good day guys and girls,

I have the oil bath caps on my trailer hubs and if I fill them about halfway full the oil is all gone within a very short distance - less than 50 kms. It definitely comes out the back seal. I am wondering if this is standard or is the oil meant to stay in there much longer than that?

In saying that though, the bearrings are still very smooth and don't seem to get water inside them at all. This is my first boat trailer with this design so any advice would be very much appreciated.
