First Dhuie of the year
Submitted by STORMBOY on Tue, 2016-01-05 16:40Hi Guys,
Got to fish out of Hillarys last night and went to a location at 33m. Decided just to look for fish with my Furuno FCV587 with my best mate G taking it in turns to locate and drop on anything looking fishy! Used Squid with Mulies inserted.
We fished from about 6pm to 9pm and kept 2 fish and released 7 more (mostly around the 45-55 cm mark)
I dislike mornings and love it when I can fish into the night :) Was a bit dodgy minding Cray pot lines on the way in, but managed to avoid them.
Looking at some of the fish that members catch here, this pales into insignificance...however on light gear it was fun and very special seeing that many dhufish at once.

Swan Prawns
Submitted by Pezdog on Tue, 2016-01-05 13:33Hey all
Anyone been prawning in the Swan lately? Thinking of dragging the next few nights. Is it far too early or can you still get them in Summer?
Also best places to try?
Cheers

Nanga station
Submitted by Fawlty on Mon, 2016-01-04 12:03Does anyone know what the lauching facilities are like at Nanga station? I've been asked to go up later in the year and have a 6.5M glass boat.
I'm a bit concerned that it may be a bit heavy if the ramp area is all sand and too shallow.

Deep Drop
Submitted by Banka on Mon, 2016-01-04 11:56We took advantage of some good weather over the christmas period and decided to head out deep to target a couple of the species that have managed to elude us so far. We worked the 300m - 400m line for a couple of hours and found a ledge with some soundings that looked promising. The spot produced both Trevalla and Bass neither of which we had caught before. We then stopped on our Grey band spot on the way in and pulled a couple of Grey Band off it. So it turned out to be a productive day with a couple of firsts.

Port Kennedy ramp this morning
Submitted by Dougo on Mon, 2016-01-04 10:22
Bet this guy thought how good is this:
- New boat and trailer (trailer still has sellers name on it) to have first launch.
- everyone else parked miles away and left this nice parking spot for me.
- Will be nice and easy when I get back.
it was there for 2 hours that I know of, when we went to pull our pots and it copped a lot of verbal abuse while we were listening.
Some people really should not have boats.

Nairns Boat Ramp - Mandurah
Submitted by trueblue_10 on Mon, 2016-01-04 07:12Was think of using this Boat Ramp instead of the Navara Ramp to get into the peel Inlet for some crabbing. It is listed as a 5 bay concrete boat ramp. I drive down from Perth and thought it may be worth a try.
Any experiences access, the actual ramp and parking?? I have a 6.1M Quintrex.

Anyone in the Flag or Sticker Industry?
Submitted by linoc on Sun, 2016-01-03 19:36Hey Guys,
Being new I don't know if anyones brought this up before but I've been out in Mandurah & the Sound now, obviously seen allot of boats/guys at the jetties (gave a nod & said g'day, some a little chat) and out on the water and wondered if any of them were someone I've seen post on here.
Was thinking it would be cool if we all had something "distinctive" on our tubs so we know its a Fishwrecked brother. Flag on our aerials, sticker both sides etc.
Would be seen by other members no matter where you are, your local spot, far North/South etc. Have a chat, maybe turn it into a few bevies/social etc.
Is it something you as members would be interested in?
Any members in the game to make this sort of thing up, provide it at cost or small margin to forum members? (shirts & hats could be another idea)
PS, 1st time to the sound today, out of Peron, nice ramp with washdown area incl taps (shame I did'nt have a hose) don't see that in Mandrah. Shame about the arvo wind/swell but the kids had fun wakeboarding.

Abalone today
Submitted by Madmerv on Sun, 2016-01-03 10:07Mate of mine, Bluey, wanted to show his son, Jeff, the ropes on how to get some abbs. Not knowing any decent spots NOR i took him down to a little secret spot i used to dive 35 years ago, yesterday for some reconinance. Weather was great and the abbs were there in abundance just off the reef.
Headed down there this morning just before 7am and BLOODY HELL. It is no secret spot. There were hundreds of people there.
Most of the families there were of the non-swimming kind and very few of them even had masks on. I have to ask the question of how do you see if the abbs are size before plucking if you cant even see them. Most of the people were just feeling around, without a guage in hand, and plucking them off.

If you look real close you can see the people in the hundreds right up to the next headland.

While looking around the beautiful model Lily found this number plate bent in half and tossed in the ocean. Looks like there is a stolen car out there now with new plates on it. If you know anybody in the northern area with a car stolen recently then it might be worth mentioning to them. The authorities have been informed.
