Bluejuice Abrohlos
Submitted by Tarpon on Sun, 2016-05-15 09:26Hi all
I have been offered a free father/son weekender with Bluejuice at the Abrohlos in June
Is it generally OK weather wise that time of year, and what species do they normally target?
And what are the sleeping arrangements like and how many toilets on board?
Any advice from those who have been would be much appreciated before I confirm
Regards

wondering if you guys had any tips n tricks, brands you would use,2 tow points or just the 1, for the rigging of the outriggers?
They will be attatched to the t Top so it can be out the way when fighting fish.

Submitted by Shane 23 on Thu, 2016-05-12 17:44Tried out wide (5 fathom of Garden Island) first of all for about 2hrs for snapper/dhu (or anything else stupid enough to get caught) but no luck. So decided to come in closer and got a dozen nice KGs between my mate and I.
Got about 6 pushing the 40cm mark, with the biggest going 45cm.

Bait Knife Recommendations?
Submitted by tainted on Wed, 2016-05-11 21:42Hey People,
I recent snapped the blade in my old bait knife doing something I shouldn't have been doing...... So time for a new one but I was curious what everyone else was using?
The main issue I had with my old knife (which was a cheapy) was it wouldn't hold an edge and it suffered a bit from corrosion. There are a number or more expensive knifes out there claming coats etc to help with corossion but are any of them actually any good? Dont really want to spend good money only to be disappointed in the future.
Cheers in advance,
Brad

info for a surf overhead
Submitted by barcelona125 on Wed, 2016-05-11 17:48hey guys,
just after a little bit of info about overhead surf casting outfits
I wouldnt mind getting my self a good quality 12/13 ft overhead beach rod, use would mainly be casting bigger dead bait and live baits.
firstly what do you guys thinka bout the daiwa sensors, any good ??
if not good what rods do you rate highly ??
also i have a daiwa saltist ld40 two speed, i have it matched up with a shimano deep jig 200 at the moment for boat use. how would this reel go if i use it for surf casting (matched to a different rod of course) ??
or should i go and get my self an overhead with cast control in it ??
thanks for the info

Reliable weather site for coral bay
Submitted by dumper on Tue, 2016-05-10 15:57Just wondering what's your opinion on weather sites for coral bay. I'm using MetEye at the moment and its looking the goods so far. But if you look at seabreeze, there's a bit of a difference between gnaraloo and Exmouth forecasts. I know there's a bit of difference between weather at Learmonth airport and tantabiddi, so I'm more inclined to trust the gnaraloo forecast more.

More Reel Porn - Truth Reels new OS Manufacturing Pics
Submitted by Truth Reels Aus... on Mon, 2016-05-09 22:29HI guys, been awhile since I posted up some pics and hteres been a lot going on in the last month.
First up, the new OS which will be in the 20-30 class reel size (think TLD 25 size). Will be light at 600 grams, class leading capacity and retireve of 60" per crank. This pic is how they all start life. One big bar of ally!

OS body negt to an LG and SG

Drag surface, OS vs LG.. Note the LG drag surface is already oversized for the reel class

Stack of spools. Top to bottom SG, LGN, LG, OS

OS spool. 720 yards of 20lb mono

And for something completely different.... Here is the sideplate of a limited edition reel made for Jim Sammons of the kayak fishing show

Help with Cervantes
Submitted by Marineboy on Mon, 2016-05-09 16:32hi all
tugging the boat up to Cervantes tomorrow for a quick day trip, will be the first time we have fished out from there and any help on where to start would be appreciated. Have heard that the first bank is a good starting point but if anyone can suggest anything else I would be grateful.
Boat is an ocean whaler so don't mind going wide.
Thanks in advance.

Is there or do you think there will be a squid shortage in Perth?
Submitted by black gen on Mon, 2016-05-09 15:33In light of the Lunds squid topic and the mad rush it seems people have been undertaking to get squid, does anyone think or know that we will be in short supply of squid?
A few mates I have spoken to have said they had trouble getting some squid recently.
Most people I know who go north each year have already loaded up on squid but is this supply going to run out.
Im more concerned about later in the year when I decide on a Thursday or Friday that I want to head out for a fish that I may not be able to get any squid to use?
thoughts?

I am looking for any Cockburn Sound regulars who might be keen to be part of an ABC story about the Snapper Guardians project and the December fish kill.
Would involve a camera interview and getting out on a boat in the next week or so to hopefully film some pinkies being pulled up.
If you're keen please PM me or email me at

Fishing Denham
Submitted by Troyboy on Mon, 2016-05-09 02:25Hi guys,
I'm heading up North in a few days with the family and just trying to make a bit of a game plan for fishing out of Denham.
We're towing a 4.3 meter tinny up with a 40 on the back, weather permitting I was going to troll north along the coast and see what I can find, flick some squid jigs around etc. I have had a read of a few posts and taken some notes but just a few questions for people who have fished it before so I don't waste to much time on things that are unlikely to work...
Do many macks get caught around Denham or is it mainly over near the channel?
Can you beach launch a boat anywhere near cape Peron? The google photos look good....
Is there much good country around Denham itself or does everyone travel across to Places like "6 pins" and "the bent peg"? If it's flat I'll shoot over but if not probably stick a little closer to town!
Thanks in advance for any info or tips, hopefully i'll post a little something about the progress in a week or so!
