Tagged snapper capture. 10-10-13
Submitted by Scotte on Sat, 2013-10-12 20:40Had a first the other night when a mates 11 year old son (Ryan)caught one of the tagged pink snapper just outside cockburn sound.basically the fish had grown roughly 65mm in the 3 years since it was initially tagged, giving it an overall length of around 790mm.it was initially tagged inside the sound by a fisheries tagger. But who knows where it has been in between those times.
The snapper was dispatched and upon filleting a circle hook was found inside its gut cavity which i found interesting.Ryan also got a pb of 850mm that night before the sharks moved in.
The carcass is now in the hands of fisheries for their research..

land based snapper blood bath
Submitted by smitho89 on Fri, 2013-10-11 18:48hey all took my grandson and his mates fishing to a land based snapper spot i know (no matter what time of year of condtions we always get a heap but i try not to overfish it) as they were sick of catching sharks. Sorry about the pictures the boys were too busy to be able to give me the individual shots to post up ! i will get individual pictures off their phones later when they come home from getting bait at woodies.
We took 18 snapper altogether (fair few boys came) but these are just pictures of mine,my son and my wifes and lost 14 snapper to sharks as well and also got a gummy, some skippy and some tailor. This is metro if anyone is interested but i wont give out a specific location as it has taken me years to find a spot with no people and a reliable catch ! it was not north mole haha. The boys ran out of bait and were not happy with what we had at the time snapper wise so we filleted a snapper for bait (yes it contributed towards our bag limit) and it worked better than any bait ive ever seen before. Ill try an find the rest of the pictures but for now i hope you all enjoy!

Question for the GT poppers
Submitted by JoRn on Fri, 2013-10-11 07:45Guys,
Just preparing myself for a GT popping expedition, being a complete noob in this area i have a question to ask.
when jigging and fishing in perth i use the Daiwa fishing belt http://daiwafishing.com.au/fighting-belt/
i like it because it i can keep it on all day and it doesnt bother me.
would this suffice for GT popping? or would those plate fighting belt similar to the JM ones be better off? I have asked a few ppl with mixed responses.
i just dont want to be caught out wishing i had one.
been watching alot of youtube videos and i notice alot of guys have the back support as well...out of 10 would you recommend getting one?

Fishing Dampier / Karratha area
Submitted by Occy85 on Thu, 2013-10-10 20:07Hello all. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am moving to dampier for work and will be living there. I am towing my 7m noble boat with me and the road trip starts this saturday the 12th of October. My father is taking two weeks off work to help me tow my boat over and to spend some time with me in dampier and I was hoping that there would be someone who would like to share a couple of off shore fishing spots at all. My dad is a keen fisherman and it would make his holiday if he could catch something to brag about when he flies back home to QLD. I know I am only new to this website but if anyone could help me out and point me in the right direction that would be awesome as I would love to see my father get that fish of a lifetime while over in dampier. Thanks everyone and I look forward to hearing from you.

How is Jurien Bay fishing at the moment.
Submitted by Fishobrad80 on Thu, 2013-10-10 07:59Heading to Jurien tonight to fish with Whitey tomorrow, just wondering how the land-based fishing is at the moment? Are there still squid to be found off the jetty? Are the beaches clean, or filled with weed?

Using teasers
Submitted by Doooma on Wed, 2013-10-09 20:15After fishing all these years, I have never used teasers before...
simple question.... How far back behind boat should they be set at?
i usually have a lure just at back of whitewash, and another further back, but no idea where I really should set a teaser!

River fishing
Submitted by garethgkr on Tue, 2013-10-08 23:44I promised my neighbours kids that I'll take them fishing. They decided to fish the river for bream and maybe catch some blowies (hopefully its not the latter).
I've tried Bayswater and Salter Point a few weeks back and got nothing.
Anyone had any luck recently? If you don't mind sharing where abouts as where to start it would be great.

Assassin Landbased Fishing Club
Submitted by snapper on Tue, 2013-10-08 20:22The newly formed Assassin Landbased Fishin Club held their inaugural fishing competition at Hill River on Saturday 5/10/2013. Fishing conditions were tough with lots of weed and smaller fish around, standout fish for the night was a Sandbar Shark of 65.88 kg for Shaun Visser and overall winner of the night. The 2nd and 3rd spots were taken by Alan Davies and Sherbert with Tailor and Flathead weighed in.
Thanks to everybody who fished on the night, tight lines and see you at the next competition

sinkers for wagoe
Submitted by Versus on Tue, 2013-10-08 17:52Getting pumped for an upcoming trip to wagoe over the christmas break, being pretty amatuer at beach fishing i was wondering what type and size sinkers people use up there? Have heard that I can expect to lose a lot of tackle, have seen on gumtree a few different people do bulk sinkers for cheap, thinking this might be a good option; anyone done this before or know of better options?
cheers for any info
