dunsborough spots
Submitted by donlovesfishing on Wed, 2013-01-02 09:08hi guys. My family and i have relocated to yallingup about 5 months ago. I drive in and out of perth every 6day shift. I was wondering if anyone is kind enough to point me in the right direction or even catchup for a fish offshore sometime. I take my 7/5 yr olds out most times. I was advised to go out to 15-18m make off eagle bay, which i did and sound around which i did but didn't find any productive spots. If someone can give any advice i would b most greatful. Message or replies would really b great. I have a little 18ft fibre glass boat with a relatively new hds 5 sounder, still learning to navigate with.i know no fisho gives his spots away but anything would b great.. tight lines. . Regards Don

Striper-Sea Swirl Boats
Submitted by kelsea on Wed, 2013-01-02 07:12I have been looking at boats and have come across the above mentioned. Does any one have any info on them? I have also been looking at the Trophy 2359 Hardtops with the diesel inboard. I am looking to change from my centre console to a dryer boat as my two little ones and wife are normally with me. As a family we mainly use the boat for fishing, but weekenders aren't out of the question.

Cleaning squid tubes
Submitted by fish4dan on Tue, 2013-01-01 18:33Does anyone have some tips on how to clean the last bits of black stuff out of squid tubes before cooking ? There's always a bit left, and nothing but picking at it for hours will shift it. Any thoughts much appreciated. Cheers, Dan

Dunsborough
Submitted by JW on Tue, 2013-01-01 16:49Need some local advice please.
Taking boat down to Dunsborough with the family in couple of weeks.
Looking on my charts, I thought Wright Bank looks close enough. The chart states "breaks in moderate swell".
Is it relatively safe? Will have kids on the boat.
Cheers,
JW

Cleaning fish at sea
Submitted by LandyAndy on Tue, 2013-01-01 11:22Hi People.
Can somebody confirm if its OK to gut/gill fish at sea(South Coast)?
I realise filleting/skining is a big no no.
Will be staying in holday accom so cleaning at the unit is out.Only the 1 cleaning station in Albany and its usually very busy and you need to fight the pelicans at times.
Looked thru the South Coast Region Guide, its not 100% clear on the issue.
Thanks
Andrew

Nice surprise catch
Submitted by BOOMER on Tue, 2013-01-01 11:04Took father in law out for a fish last week for his first jigs only day,
Caught 7 species for the day all on jigs / old boy used plastics with this trout being a nice surprise and my first in local waters.
Also had a visit from a GW that followed a duey all the way to the boat, scarey when you here of these dudes jumping in to retrieve a fish.

Species caught - Trout, Duefish, snapper, samson, yellowtail king, black ass , balchin all released except the two in photos.
Cheers Boomer

Submitted by Fish guts on Tue, 2013-01-01 10:04Whilst my uncle was out fishing yesterday he found a boat seat and what looks like a lid to a ice box or compartment of some sort. I have photos of them but don't want to post them for a obvious reasons. If you have lost them though PM me with the description.
They were found about 20nm out past the warnboro / Cockburn sound.

Swan river crabs.
Submitted by Wranger on Mon, 2012-12-31 16:46Crabs have been vey slow. And over the last couple of seasons have been getting hammered with more and more people realising they can get big boys in the river. Do you think there should be a ban put in place for a season or two to let them recover before it gets to delapitated. As usual everyone reacts to late and the damage has been done. We used to do 2 pulls and have our20. And quite often we would have double bangers haven't had one for years just a thought to see what everyone else thinks. Cheers.
