Another Toy
Submitted by Demersal Jigger on Wed, 2013-09-04 19:42Managed to score this brand new Crostage CRJ-S60/3 for $130. I don't really need it as i have a pe2 and pe3 Xzoga but at a bargain price i had to grab it. It feels pretty good loaded up. Build quality isn't too bad but no better than any other mass produced cheap rod. A few guides aren't lined up perfectly with the blank but i can't complain for $130.

Overhead Jig Reel
Submitted by jayce on Mon, 2013-09-02 22:01Hey Guys
Just doing a bit of research on a overhead jig reel and was looking for some oppinions. I have a Extreme Fishing WA overhead rod that currently has a tyrinos 30 on it. As you can imaging that isnt overly comfortable to jig with. I am hoping to put a lighter narrower reel on it that will handle PE5.
I have a Stella 5000 with PE3 on a JM rod aswell. that i mainly use. so just looking for a little heavier back up for Sambos and Kings.
Cheers

Any success with these jigs???
Submitted by ctan1968 on Wed, 2013-08-28 22:39Hi all,
My brother who works overseas gave me the heads up on some cheap demersal jigs in some shops.
Are any of these brands/products familiar for demersal jigging?
1. Saltiga Sacrifice ii Slow knuckle jig.
2. Maria Metal Flicker.
3. Technic Octo Angler.
4. Daiwa Speed jig RV.
5. Jigging Master Fallings.
Looking for jigs which suit the slow method (dhuies etc), not high speed for sambos.
Thanks for your help
Chris

OH jigging reel under $400
Submitted by robert1979 on Thu, 2013-08-15 20:47Hi, looking for an OH reel primarily for sambo jigging, planning to run 80lb braid. Any suggestions with a budget of under $400? Thinking along the lines of Fin-Nor Marquesa MA20, Daiwa Saltist LD20 but not sure if these are suitable for 80lb?
Cheers,

How do you store your demersal jigs?
Submitted by wrasse magnet on Sun, 2013-08-11 19:03I'm looking for ideas on how to store demersal jigs. I've looked at the Shout jig bags and while they look the goods my main issue with them is IMO they are very pricy given the small number of jigs each one actually holds. There must be better storage bags, boxes, etc available out there. So what do you all use?

Jigging for YTK
Submitted by jayce on Sun, 2013-08-11 02:00Hi All
Just wondering if anyone does much jigging for YTK in W.A. I am planning on heading down south to try my luck next break providing the weather is freindly.
Just chasing a bit of info on what depths are good to start looking and what jigs are working for people on kings?
I have 3 jig setups i can use.
1st is a Jig Master three kings pe 1.5-4 with a Stella 5000.
2nd is a Extreme Fishing WA pe 3-5 with a Tyrnos 30. Bit heavy but does the job
3rd is a Shimano t-curve deep jig 500 with a Spheros 14000.
Now i just need some jigs for them. I have a heap of demersal jigs under 200gm but nothing really heavier than that.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers Jayce

Gillies Ocktapus Jig 150g
Submitted by beeroclock on Wed, 2013-08-07 16:09Im new to jigging and have seen all the posts that have appeared lately with the big arse dhueys and snapper with jigs hanging out of their mouths. I notice that no one seems to use the octopus shaped jigs - are they any good, just interested to know as it was the first jig i bought at BCF when I decided to do a bit of jigging. So far ive only used the long metal fish shaped jigs and done good on sambo's out at the barges. So what about the octo jigs are they ok for demersals or not the jig of choice for dhueys or snapper?

Home made Jigs
Submitted by psion on Mon, 2013-07-15 20:57Got bored today, was baby sitting so I decided to sacrific 2 old knife handles and had a crack at making some jigs.
definiately not a master piece, but we'll see what the fish think.
I bent a subtle S shape in the the handles to see if I could depart some action. Gonna test them in my mates pool.

Front, the green, blue and gold speckles don't show up to well. Going to buy a stick on eyes

The back, polished the chrome

Side view with slight bend.

And the second one, the reflective foil is stuck on with thin double sidded tape. Will stick eyes on the one too.
Cheers

Jig weight for a Fin nor 80lbss
Submitted by psion on Mon, 2013-07-08 14:30Hi guys
I am trying to find the jig "weight range" for the Fin nor 80lb jigging rod.
I know it is better suited to a 50lbs line class, but most rods will specify a PE rating and a jig weight.
I have paired it with a talica 12 II and 50lbs braid, if that helps.
and I assume the depth would be a factor as well? (maybe I'm wrong again) but lets assume up to 60 m.
Any ideas/advice would be appreciated.
thanx

Spin or Overhead?
Submitted by BaileyM on Sat, 2013-07-06 23:17Interested in getting into some jigging, planning to spend a fair bit more time offshore.
What is your preference regarding a jigging setup. Better to go overhead or spin?
Preferably going for pinkies/dhuies/sambos.

What mid price Jig Rod?
Submitted by breamslayer on Sun, 2013-06-30 16:30Hi guys,
In the market for a jig rod for my Stella 5000sw. I am going to use it for jigging Dhufish, Snapper and Small-Mid Sambos. I am not after crazy quality rods such as Ripple Fishers, Jigging Master and the likes, I am just after something of Okay, Mid Price Range quality.
I am currently thinking either the N.S. Magic Eye Torque or a Maria Steady Jigging.
The reel feels a bit heavy on the NS Magic Eye Torque and a tad out of balance.
The Maria balances perfectly and feels nice. I also feel I can put more power on with this rod. Only problem is it is heavy (not very compared to other rods like it but still very noticable compared to the NS).
Has anyone used these rods and can comment? Any other suggestions?
Thanks :)
