access noth of two rocks
Submitted by ol cripple on Sun, 2013-02-24 20:34Notice to those that like hitting the beaches north of Two Rocks, the developers have blocked access with rocks to the track leading to The shacks and other fishing spots along that way this might be the start to access being denied thru that area be wary in that area as the farmer who has the adjoining property doesn't like trespassers!

Speculation - Boating Industry
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Sun, 2013-02-24 11:27So, driving around Karratha yesterday I notice every 3rd boat is an import (up here usually 21-30ft). So the question is, what is this going to do to our boating industry when the market here becomes satuarated with all these imports? I know Perth has the same sitatuion going on now with people looking to get a great deal from the states, does this mean in 3-5 years there will be a heap of cheaper boats going around from local manufacturers? Will there be a heap of US boats floating around cheap as people look to upgrade to bigger and better stateside boats? Or will things just stay the same?
How do you guys think this is all going to play out?

Perspective - Fish Imports
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Sun, 2013-02-24 11:06Coles and Woolies will of course have this nicely presented on ice, with all the other fish varieties..............priced at $7 or $8 kilo. Made to appear pretty reasonable against the other fresh stuff at anything up to $25 kilo.

Collecting pippis perth metro??
Submitted by scano on Sat, 2013-02-23 10:59Hi everyone,
went down near the river this morning for breakfast with the mrs. Whilst there we went for the usual scope out if anyone is fishing walk along the river. Came across some blokes scooping for pippis.
a few questions if I may. Do ya reckon these would be ok to eat or just as bait?
also is there any hot spots to try for pippis in the metro area? (Pm if need be)
i love fettuccini vongole so some fresh pippis would go down nicely in that.
many thanks

4wd advice
Submitted by longhairedlout on Sat, 2013-02-23 09:11G'day All,
Will be chasing a 4wd soon.
Just wondering what everybody's advice would be if they had to buy one with about 30k to spend.
would prefer a turbo diesel, unsure whether to get a wagon or a dual cab ute.
Not really into climbing mountains, just a beast that will drive over sand and dunes.
Have been told an 80series turbo diesel, the only problem being they are now getting pretty old and most of the ones i see advertised have well over 300 000k's.
Everybody's input appreciated
Cheers

Places up North ?
Submitted by rooboy111 on Fri, 2013-02-22 10:52
Hey Guys !
Need some advice. We are due to head down to Albany next week for our yearly boys weekend away ( The BOYCOTT ) but the weather is already looking terrible, so I have suggested to the boys that we head North to try and find some nicer weather. Only problem is I/we have never even fished past Lancelin. Where abouts from Lancelin to Shark Bay would be the best place to head for a 5 day trip. We will be camping and have a 4wd and we will be in a 5.9 runabout. A caravan park would be preferable but I guess if the spots nice camping without power or shower would be fine.
Any Suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks in advance Guys !!!

Submitted by Bodie on Wed, 2013-02-20 21:22Anyone doing the swim this year? Or crewing for it?
i am going over as a support boat, just wondering what others make of the conditions? Swell rising to 2.5m during the day and winds 10-15+ all day. Not going to be pretty! Am a little surprised they are saying the conditions look reasonable?

3D Printer suggestions
Submitted by flangies on Mon, 2013-02-18 18:26 Hi guys
I am looking to purchase a 3D printer in the next couple of months and I am almost baffled by all the choices. Does anyone own one on here?
My budget is around 2k but I'm flexible if the right one comes along. The projects I would like to print would be quite small.
It almost seems that by the time I get one, it will be obsolete :/

I have my doubts
Submitted by davidbland50 on Sat, 2013-02-16 18:23Was watching that 'Hook,Line and Sinker' programme on 72 today. They did a so called economy test between a 300hp 4st Yammie against an old 175hp 2st Johnno Ocean Runner. They travelled twelve miles out to the continental shelf, three hours of trolling and then twelve miles back and then filled the tanks to the top. The boats were a 21ft barcrusher (brand new) against an approx. 21ft Haines (older version). Not really comparable.
The yammie used about 60lts compared to the Johnno using nearly 160lts!!! I find that very hard to believe. Considering I have a 93 Johnno 150 2st and I have gone 25 miles out done a whole days fishing including trolling, drifting back and forth and then headed back and not used more than half that (ie. 80lts). I know that Yamaha is one of their sponsors but come on, let's be real about it otherwise their credibility will be shot to the sheet house.

Carnarvon to Gero road report
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2013-02-15 20:16For those who are thinking of travelling up this way please watch out for roos and goats.
Did the round trip today leaving Carnarvon at 0400 to head down to Gero for a morning appointment then back again straight after.
Lots of roos about 50-60 km north of Wooramel where it has rained recently and again with plenty of goats to keep them company half way between Overlander and Billabong.
Looks like someone has the job of cleaning the bodies off the road because the twenty plus fresh ones from early this morning were missing on the return trip, taking away all the warning signs we would normally slow down after seeing a few of.

Ledge64 missing? where are Friday Funnies
Submitted by Alan James on Fri, 2013-02-15 14:28I received this the other day.
Dear friends,
There are less than 8 months until election day when the people will decide who will be the next Prime Minister of Australia.
The person elected will be the Prime Minister of all Australians, not just the Liberals or Labor.
It's time for us all to come together, Liberals and Laborites alike, in a bi-partisan effort, for Australia.
So here is the favour I ask of you –
If you support Tony Abbot, please drive with your headlights ON during the day.
If you support Julia Gillard, please drive with your headlights OFF at night.
Together, we can make it happen.
