2021 AFL DRAFT
Submitted by NORUN NOFUN on Fri, 2021-11-26 09:24Great to see Freo draft 4 WA players and three of those of very high quality at the top end of the draft. A midfield that contains Brayshaw, Serong, Erasmus, Johnson etc in the years to come should be exciting and such a young group with plenty of belief and purpose. Amiss, Treacy, Darcy, Young, Clarke all so young and hopefully gel well together in the years to come also.
West Coast did extremely well to drop a couple of spots for a future second rounder and still get a top quality player, unfortunately someone thought he was an XXXL in juersey size. The other draftee's have plenty of AFL family history too and well done to Greg Clark for finally getting a crack.
Exciting times ahead.
For the non Freo and WC folk, are you happy with your haul ?

Lithium Batteries
Submitted by Darren253 on Tue, 2021-11-23 11:19So I’m making the switch to Lithium for the house battery for the Caribbean.
Its a minefield of black boxes claiming to be of a capacity but anywhere from 80-50% of that is actually delivered.
I've spend hours of time researching (onsite) all of the lower priced brands and settled on EnerCore. They are an Australian business and design and service the batteries here. 3 years warranty. 100amp continuous discharge, 12kg total weight. They also are cutting out the nonsense of the lithium guessing game by providing the battery in a clear case so you can see exactly what you are getting.
You can buy them from a few places but rollingcart have a $100 off back Friday special ongoing so they are under $500 each. Code: BLACK2021
www.rollingcart.com.au/shop/enercore-clear-cased-12v-100ah-lithium-battery/
Few reviews seem positive about them with decent capitiy tests.
I have no links to either of these business but thought i would share my learning on the cost effective lithium market.
I'll report back once i have it installed/setup!

Dick pics
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2021-11-19 23:39Another good man down...
We need a referendum, it's like the Olympics, you should be able to performance enhance a few times at least... That's actually the whole idea of competition, to see what the human body is capable of... Exactly like having coolant or lube in a race car...
Politicians, priests, captains of our national team should be able to dick pic freely like the rest of us...
Get the vax and get your tackle out fellas, make a stand.

Recommendations for a builder to convert carport to bedroom - NOR
Submitted by NORUN NOFUN on Mon, 2021-11-15 09:22Gday guys, looking for recommendations for a builder and if/or you have gone through the process yourself.
I have a triple garage setup at home and would like to convert the nearest carport to the house to a bedroom.
Have looked on the Joondalup council regs and looks quite involved with the only setback that I can see so far to be the minimum 2.4 height as my triple garage is at 2.2.
I really do like to do most things myself but being time poor getting a builder to carry out may well be the best option.
Any help or feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers
Scotty

Boat for sale
Submitted by fishy fingers on Mon, 2021-11-15 07:37In a few weeks I will be selling my 20' kingcraft Ranger, (the kingcraft hull where formally Pacemaker) I don't realy fish anymore so it's time to go, it's in excellent condition, 2011 140hp Suzuki 4 stroke, lowrance sounder and chart plotter
there will be a new targa canopy cover on all stainless bar work, the rest of the details I'll list when I put it up,
the main reason for this post as I've been out of the loop for so long is to get a feeling for the price I could expect to get ( not looking for offers right now just a guide)
Cheers

New deck, again.
Submitted by Swompa on Fri, 2021-11-12 19:31Well that was a mission.
After using a hole saw to dig into a soft spot on the deck uncovered rot and catastrophic delamination in my 3 year old deck, I bit the bullet.
Over the past months, I made a replacement deck out of the boat and consolidated lots of glass and resin. It still wasn't enough but we now have a new deck. 18mm ply with two layers of 600gsm uni directional glass mat on top along with 10 meters of 400gsm thrown in there for good measure.
Also thrown in is 16kg of expandable foam to stiffen the heck out of it. Under the deck we have jarrah on top of the frames glued and glassed. Lots of epoxy glue, q cells, sikaflex and 316 screws.
Instead of carpet, I opted for udek. A kiwi product that I saw in a post by Ranmar. It is denser than Seadek/deckarmour. The Deckarmour rep wouldn't return my calls so no idea the cost there but the Udek cost me $250 for a 2m x 1m sheet. I used 5 so it is a bit more expensive than carpet at 30 per lineal meter...
Anyhoo, she is stiff and solid again with quality timber under the glass. Next year will be time to paint the outside then get her ready to sell.
Bring on Aluminium plate!

Framing Nails Help
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sun, 2021-11-07 09:31Hoping someone can help me. I am building a deck using 45x90 joists and have a whole bunch of joist hangers and dad's framing gun. I went to Bunnings to get some nails to fasten the joist hangers and I can only find 50 x 2.87mm nails which are too long for the 45mm joist.
Does anyone know where to get some correct size nails as the fella at Bunnings was not much help beyond reading the boxes of nails.
Cheers JF

Winter project
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2021-11-07 09:00So what did you lot get up to over the long winter?
I decided to build myself a new mancave, complete with a fully insulated wine storage upboard (still doing temp checks)
Pretty happy with the outcome, wider, higher and more light. Had LED fluro's installed, and put a personel door on the main door for quicker access.
More room for the boat now

warranty claims
Submitted by quadfisher on Wed, 2021-11-03 15:12Just a question .......... got a acer laptop that screen went black within the 12 month warranty period... so back off to the large retailer
Handed it in and was told the back lights gone , so bout 4 weeks turnaround to fix ,, all good i thought ,,
Yesterday the retailer called me back and said ,, the backlight is deff covered by warranty but they wont fix it unless you pay for a new case because theres
a small hairline crack in case ( that i never really noticed to be honest) for $220 thank you very much...
no problems i say , tell them to fix the light , i will put up with a small crack ,,,, sorry they say it dont work that way ,,
they will only do warranty work if you pay for new case ,,,,,, so by my thinking the black screen has turned into blackmail... thoughts.....

Can’t help but be pissed
Submitted by Swompa on Thu, 2021-10-28 17:58Well some of you may remember that I rebuilt the internals of my boat three years back. Well it turns out that I got completely screwed over by the Marine Ply supplier and got a product that is beyond useless. Unfortunately Isupply, whom I got it from in Willetton no longer exist so there is no one to chase so it is up to me to do it all again
Careful to anyone out there.
One pro is that there were a few things that I did last time that I would do again. the deck is going from 12mm to 18mm and I am going two laters of 600gsm mat as a top layer as opposed to 4 layers of 100gsm. It will be strong like tractor...
I am throwing expandable foam in every under deck compartment this time instead of just along the keel as that seems to be where the flex and eventual degradation has come from.
Learn from my mistakes...
