whiting for live bait
Submitted by Paul G on Thu, 2009-10-01 18:28have got a live bait tank on board but don't seem to be able to keep them alive ,we are catching the whiting in 22m and trying to bring them up slow but they still seem to get full of air and float in the tank.Have also tryed in shore 8m and still no joy . Do you think droping a whithing down 80m would kill it or would it adapted on the way down any ideas on how we can get them swiming .

lucky bay trip
Submitted by flagpole on Tue, 2009-09-29 19:31hey all
All the boys organise a grand final footy trip from drummonds to lucky bay, we set off at the 440 road house at 7am. down toi drummonds we go let air out of our tyres and off we go. we made it coronation no worries after testing out the 4wds in the muddy river crossings then off we went. its not a 4wd trip with out a boggy hill climb so all the boys tested out there driving skills and cars on the hill. 3 out of 8 cars made it off we went 10 minutes uyp the track we hear on the two way "steelies gone over" we all russed to the track to find steeles new hilux on its side after falling down a eroded bank. amazingly nothing fell out the back, it tooks us half and hour to gentle get the vehicle back on all 4s, let the oil drain down for a while popped the bonnett gave it the once over then we were off.
we made it to horrock with no more dramas and decided to head from horrocks to port gregory along a dirt road. we made it there set up tv and got on the terps. we decided to stitch this bloke up named aaron by mixing his drink twicw as strong and he had finished a bottle of bicardi ny the end of the game in which his team had lost. we then packed up left for lucky bay not after playing a joke by taking the hubs out on a few vehicles.
all the boys like to go to lucky bay via the salt flats, its great fun and it tests the boys out. the first car went down it was the 60 series cruiser being the one i took the hubs out. he was in deep and digging himself a big hole, two broken snatch straps later he was out. punky one of the lads said to sparks"it didnt look like your front wheels were turning" he checked them say that they were out saw the funny side of things and off we went. a few busted tyres later and a lot of beves we were at lucky bay not soon enough did the range rover decide to shit itself everyone was to tired and pissed to worry about it so we left it at the shacks and headed for a camping spot it was about 7 at night then we all went to bed. wat a day
the next day we all got up early and got the range rover going and headed to the bay where instead of fishing which is wat we went to do, we hit the piss at 8 in the morning. we didnt take much of an interest in throwing a line out once we had about 1 and a half blocked under our belt and decided to set up camp somewhere and do a good job on ourself. out came the red wine port and jager bombs. it didnt take long to crash out after that.
the next day everyone was really quiet and a bit under the weather. let me say the drive home was quiet one a few sore heads im sure

Moving to KARRATHA...Yeah Baby!
Submitted by Fishkraehe on Mon, 2009-09-28 06:33Hi everyone, my name is Kyron (nickname:Fish), I have just joined the site, Ive been lookin at all the trophies that have been landed in the Pilbara...impressive to say the least...i have just been informed that I am being posted with the Army to Karratha for 3 years, and I couldnt be happier...Im runnin a Gulf Runner 4.45m side consul, 50 Yam, Minn kota, that was set up for Barra fishing when I was in NQ 2 years back. I also do a bit of YAK fishing from my Hobie paddle drive yak,....Im used to catching Bream around Perth on lures, but im more than happy to trade up to a few good Jacks or Threadies... I will be working with The Pilbara Regiment (for those who know it) in Town, and look forward to meeting a few fishos whilst up that way. It will take a while for me to find my feet in the waters around the NW, but I look forward to it immensly, I am mainly a lure fisho, and dont mind throwin the odd livey...my family and I look forward to meeting a few of the locals up that way when we get there in late Dec 09...Cheers!! :-)

Rod Repair
Submitted by King-Prawn on Mon, 2009-09-28 06:31The ceramic fill in the top eyelet has fallen out of my favourite fishing rod. Is this possible to repair and if so how. Had noticed that the line had begun to fray and upon closer inspection noticed that the top eyelet was missing the ceramic infill. Presume this would be the cause of the frayed line.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

break downs
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2009-09-27 22:51just wondering after seeing that someone had a fuel prob after they got in .How many of you have actually broken down while out on the water and how far out were you or even how close in , for us unfortunately it has happened a few times , furthest out was 19nm when my old boat dropped all its oil (2 stroke) and the closest was about 200 mtrs from point peron ramp when the steering shat itself, there has been a couple of times in our new boat but those were probs the boat had before we got it apart from when our gearbox went after braid got caught around the prop shaft then wore out the seals and dropped all the oil , we have had some bad luck with boats . alls good now .............. share your stories and embarasing moments like forgetting to put the bung in at the ramp (oooops done that one)

Sound couple of firsts tonight.
Submitted by Decella on Sun, 2009-09-27 22:40Had a huge night last night so going fishing was a little bit touch and go. Forced my sorry ass up off the lounge and took the family for a Snapper fish in the sound. We drove over the hill and there she was the Squaw (indian ocean). She looked like a mill pond and me like a bashed crab. Got to the ramp and launched. While preping the boat I saw the pro boat getting ready to head out as well. I headed out and hunted for schools with him. With no luck after about two hours I decided to head in and let the pets (2 dogs) relieve themselves before heading back and anchoring for a fish. Anchored at a spot that has done well in the past and lauched two baits out. While these were soaking I started flicking a soft plastic around. I had bought a rod from Mako Magic to match a 4000 twin power. The rod he sold me was a Heatley Rise. I have been looking forward to getting a fish on it as it looked promising and as I have never caught anything on soft plastics before I was a little pumped. Dusk came and I was still seedy flicking the softy around wondering what the hell I was doing out of bed. Next thing I knew the little 4000 was screaming and I was into a good fish. After a couple of runs it spat the hook, S@#t. I was shaking with adrenalin. Flicked the softy out again about 10 winds ang BANG, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, I was on again. Fighting the fish was like taking a Berocca the size of a bin lid. I looked across and my young bloke was hanging on for dear life as his 9500 penn was spewing line int the ocean. I landed mine after a good fight and proceeded to help Dec. He got his on board just in time for the other reel to become vocal. He landed that one as well. I was rapped perfect weather, my first fish on plastic, Dec's first Snapper x2 and no hanger over.

honda 200hp fuel consumption
Submitted by Paul G on Sat, 2009-09-26 18:12the new Honda is terific ,so quiet and smooth,a normal trip with the old motor 175 fitch ,would be around 90-100 litres, the same trip today sitting on speeds 16-36knot used around 50-60 liters, a massive saving, and the extra wight of the motor made the boat go through the water much nicer Jody was amazed at the differance so in all a great investment anyone looking at repowering i can highly recomend the Honda.

Another Riddle
Submitted by Paully on Fri, 2009-09-25 20:19A man lives on the 20th floor of an apartment building. Every morning he gets up, gets in the lift and takes it to the ground floor. He gets out, goes to work. At the end of every day after work he does his shopping, gets back in the lift and takes it to the 10th floor. He then gets out and walks to his place on the 20th floor. What is going on there?
I will answer any questions with a simple yes or no, that way you will know if your on the right path or not.
