FANTASY FISHING
Submitted by Colin Hay on Thu, 2009-01-15 12:50Hi All, I have received this as a media notice. I ton;t know if anyone is interested, but it may be worth a look. All the best Colin Hay
Fantasy Fishing shook up the world of fantasy sports with the successful launch of its new fantasy fishing sports game in 2008. For the first time in history, an individual, Michael Thompson, became the first $1 million winner along with seven other individual $100,000 winners by playing FLW Fantasy Fishing. Additionally, there were over 4,000 prize winners from participants in 123 countries around the world who won prizes such as Ranger boats, a Chevy truck and tens of thousands of dollars in cash and gift cards.
In 2009 FLW Fantasy Fishing is substantially raising the bar with another exciting opportunity for those who play Fantasy Fishing by raising the purse to more than $10 million in cash and prizes. Along with a guaranteed $1 million cash winner, there will be six guaranteed $100,000 cash winners and thousands of other prizes.
Fantasy Fishing participants will have the opportunity to win $5 million and $3 million cash bonus exacta games by selecting the correct finishing order of the top angler competitors. For the inside information and an added edge about all of the competing pro anglers, participants can sign up for Player’s Advantage for only $10 for the entire season. In 2008, Player’s Advantage members won at a rate of 4-to-1 over non-members including the $1 million winner, Michael Thompson, who was a Player’s Advantage member.
Participation in FLW Fantasy Fishing is easy and fun. For more information, visit fantasyfishing.com. You can also contact Jeff McCoy, Director of Public Relations for FLW Outdoors at (612) 337-1945 or to speak with me or to arrange an interview with any of our previous winners.
Best regards,
Irwin L. Jacobs
Chairman, FLW Outdoors and creator of Fantasy Fishing

Overlander Budgies fall dead out of sky
Submitted by Rosco on Wed, 2009-01-14 13:00I was at Overlander Road House on Saturday. 46 degrees and Budgies were falling out of the sky dying. we gave some some water which seemed to help but there were thousands. It didn't help that the dam behind Overlander was dry. I took a few picks which I will post. Very sad but it probably happens in nature?

Submitted by damo6230 on Tue, 2009-01-13 17:11South West Fishwrecked Crew BBQ Australia Day weekend.
It is official
The BBQ will be held on Saturday January 24th at Bluetonics (BJ) place.
The BBQ will start at 3pm and Fishwreck(ed) members and family are welcome.
The primary aim is for south west members to meet and greet (after the resounding success of the xmas party). Hope to see Busso crew attending and others who can afford the distance.
I will personally provide $100 for food and beer myself while Mark (Big Red) at Gotone Bunbury has admirably provided Gotone gift vouchers and other special prizes.
You will need to PM either myself or Bluetonic for address details and can those interested please PM either myself or Bluetonic before January 20th to help with organisation and catering. Will also organise a maxi cab for those that require a ride home......
Looking forward to meeting fellow FW crew.

Jesse gets a job
Submitted by Paul G on Sat, 2009-01-10 06:16Jesse has got a job part time at a tackle shop north of the river and is pretty excited about boasting his knowledge on fish tackle. What a great start for him, as he loves his fishing and I’m sure he will be a good little worker. He will learn heaps and also give and share some good info with the beginners and seasoned fisher’s .The only problem will be he will want all the best gear once he has got his hands on it. Move over Jacko as Jesse maybe the face of fwa in the future, who knows he may let me bait his hooks for him, and carry his bags while he travels and catches fish..

is a verbile agreement binding
Submitted by dakka on Fri, 2009-01-09 20:23hi all
just wanting to know if anyone can tell me if a verbile aggrement is binding or do you need it in writing.
why i am asking is that my previuous employer said that he pays us $3 an hour for every hour that we worked at the end of the year. i started on 07-01-08 to 13-11-08 doing roughly 60-66 hrs per week (6nights a week) another employee i know has just left there as well and he told me that he is going to chase his bonus up and that i should do as well. i dindnt when i left because i did not finish 12 months with him but he still reckons i am entitled to most of it . are we entitled to it as it was only verbily said and there was nothing in writing, we are each others witness to what he said and so is one more worker that used to be there, do we have any chance pursuing this any further. any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Fish hook, tapeworm found inside 3m great white
Submitted by Colin Hay on Fri, 2009-01-09 13:46Courtesy of the ABC
New Zealand scientists have finished dissecting a three-metre long great white shark as part of their research.
They found that its liver alone weighed 39 kilograms.
More than 2,000 people stood for hours under Auckland's hot sun to watch the public dissection at the city's museum.
The 300-kilogram female shark died a fortnight ago after getting caught in a fisherman's gill net in a harbour, north of Auckland.
The great white shark was only declared a protected species in New Zealand 18 months ago.
Marine scientist Clinton Duffy says nowadays there is less fear and more respect for the animals.
"I've also heard that the humble scallop is the most dangerous animal in New Zealand waters," he said.
"More divers drown hunting scallops than have ever been eaten by great white sharks in New Zealand"
When the scientists cut open the shark's stomach it was filled with brown mush.
On closer inspection they found fish bones, a tapeworm and a fish hook.
Mr Duffy says seals had also left bite marks on the shark's snout.
"The scarring on the snout tells us at this age the shark had switched to eating seals, so it tells us something about its diet," he said.
He says at three metres in length, the adolescent female could eat a seal whole.
Auckland Museum is keeping the organs for more research.

XR6 Turbo sleeper
Submitted by PACEMAKER on Mon, 2009-01-05 20:33Owning a Ford speed shop I decided to beef up the XR6 Turbo for the missus. I had already changed the exhaust and given it a basic tune just to have some fun in but this time I got a bit carried away. We have closed for a Christmas break so now was the time. Ended up changing the turbo control actuator, 60lb fuel injectors (originals 33lb), stage 4 hybrid clutch. Raised the boost from 6 psi stock to 13 psi and did a full custom tune. Power figures saw a healthly yet reliable 415 rwhp with 800 NM torque. Also fitted a Ripshifter with 20% reduction to standard shift. The car has a great feel and averages better fuel economy at 14L/per 100. Funny thing with this is watching the blokes get beaten by a female. I just sit as a passenger and laugh at there let down faces after she whips their a#@es.
