Hey guys, wondering what everyone was using as offshore placcy sticks? Im using a 7ft 15-25lb samurai at the moment and I'm certain there is something better, maybe 6'6? softer action? Your opinions would be great!

 Has anyone been to kalbarri in the past week and has any reports? im leaving on sunday for a 6 day trip. cant wait! i was there the same time last year and the fish didnt seem to be interested in much even though we landed a few small mulloway. any reports or tips welcome :)

Hi people this post isnt about not knowing my stuff with the demersal ban . However currently at university im doing a policy unit and chosen to focus on the demersal ban. I know some of you are diehard fishos and was curious if anyone had any old Pfd files and government documents , facts or any other general information lying around on thier computer that they could possible post up for me or email me. Alot of the links i had from the department of fisheries have been changed as the whole website is under going change and construction. I hvae sourced a bit a fair bit of information from this website. However looking for other sources aswell. Any help would be awesome.

Really keen on having a fish tomorrow morning but then I saw all the weed at cott on the news last night.

Looking at going for a metro fish but happy to go a bit north (2 rocks way) or south (mandurah and beyond) if anyone can confirm that there's some decent beach that isn't weed covered! 

Basically I'd be keen to avoid driving 45mins to the beach to find weed everywhere and it unfishable like Cott.

Appreciate anyone who takes a few seconds to let me know their local beach is good or not!

2.2 kilo...i thought it was a stonker...good colours good size ..535 long ..and i got another baker ....also ended up with big whiskery ...

took a good mate out today and got my ass kicked again ..all i caught was sergant bakers ..back in before lunch..fisheries at ramp so i cleaned fish and handed over carcas to them ...good session. in and out...left the others alone...all good

I am planning a charter with Ocean Blue for December 2013.

We will be fishing Vanuatu, a mix of popping and jigging with a bit of marlin trolling thrown in if we get tired

We need a total of four guys to book the lodge and have myself and one other locked in already so there are two places available.

Trip is in December when the water should be warm, giving us a great shot at a Doggy on stickbait along with horse GTs, big tuna and all your standard reefies.

Cost is $3700 including 7 nights accommodation, 6 days fishing, all meals and tackle provided on a break/replace basis for those that need it (i think, but can confirm if anyone needs loan tackle).

Accommodation is apparently really nice, and the boat looks great.

We'll be booking so that we fish either side of the full moon early December (so landing in Vanuatu around 1 December).

We are looking to book soon, and a 50% deposit is required on booking. An option to make it easier to sell to the Mrs (and what I am doing) is to get them to meet you for a week's holiday in Vanuatu at the end of the fishing!

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with a Furuno FCV 1100L or similar unit operating in an environment where it cops a bit of spray (like the dash of my centre console).

The Furuno manual says they are not waterproof but how sensitive are they or what measures can be taken to 'splashproof' the unit??

After seeing all the photo's of the trout coming from Harvey Dam, i'm going to give this a go myself and either get up early tomorrow morning or head out there tonight and roll the swag out...

Just hoping to get some info... If i was to head out there tomorrow morning I would be aiming to leave at around 03.30am and get to the dam at about 05:00. Then no doubt I would spend half an hour or so looking for a likely place to cast a line.

Ive done a bit of research and i know that they generally surface early mornings and aftenoons / nights. I've looked on google earth and found what look to be some nice grassy banks around the dam which i'm told is what to look for - What time should I aim to start fishing in the morning ? I'm not sure if 05.30 would be a tad late or early ?

Once ive finished with the fishing i'm hoping to head the extra hour or so south for a sneaky surf :P

I was curious to know when you guys on here say berley up and wait!!!!   

question what goes in a good berley? how much berley, and how frequent should it be used? also does it keep going in when the fish arrive, if they come at all, if they dont when do you decide to move?

     The shots here where taken on the Hong Kong main land at the pier where the ferrys come in.

I'm new to Perth and keen to explore the coast a bit.  Bought a light outfit with some plastics & spoons, and I'm keen to have a look at the beaches somewhere within an hour of Perth to see if there's anything that wants to bite (trolled reports, no word of any tailor, herring or whiting off the beaches?!?).

Anyway plan is to try scarborough or somewhere, unless I get some better advice.  Anyone's welcome to join - be great to meet some fisho's to share a beer with (or share a few fillets with on a good day)

at work .(now) good mate off mine got a call from friend on water (out from bent street ramp)..drop off where a lot off squiders go...a big 4 to 4.5 meter white came up and said hello,,  they only just finished skieng and knee boarding ..didnt show any aggression towards them or boat ...it is a little close to pontoon ,where a lot off kids swim..out from old wacky pub...school holidays and all.. just be carefull if you swimming or squiding in area ..

can anyone recomend the best/cheapest place to stay for a week in exmouth?

Just wondering which catches was the best fun. I have 3 that stand out. My first fish on fly, the humble herring, but it was a bully and was a blast on the 6wt.

Then surprise! I hooked something that certainly gave me grief, circled the boat up here in Dampier and I thought man this is going to be something. It truely gave a good account of itself so I was very impressed. However when it surface after the fight I was a little disappointed to say the least -- a forktailed Catfish!!!

Looking back though it stands out as such a courageous fight from an undesirable it rates up there with the best fight.

Lastly was a medium Queenfish that had a Noah on its tail, and the little trooper jumped clear over the transom off the boat to escape. I was on fly and couldnt realy drag him away from the shark, but he did it himself by the jump. That knackered him and I got him away from the shark, revived him and sent him on his way. The jump was by far the best I have ever seen from a not so big fish.

On Monday out the back of the Muriens we watched a bloke in a centre console hooked up to a nice billfish from the upper levels of a pipelay barge... He was still most likely 500+mtrs away but the fish looked a bewt and make several of us damn jealous...

Who was the lucky punter, we weren`t sure if they got the tag in as looked pretty hectic still boatside....

This is my first year with a boat.

I know about the cockburn sound closed season for snapper and upcoming demersal ban and I am unsure what this means about fishing.

Can you still fish in the sound for whiting etc and bottom fish elsewhere, or is this not allowed in case you catch one of the protected species.

 Went fishing off Mewstone casting some Mullie's on gangs on my bream 1-4 kg rod for some fun. Just casting them into the reef I caught 4 massive tailor one was 4kg and hooked on to a massive sambo but just couldn't stop him on my bream rod, was a great 1 hour of fishing

 I am still looking long and hard for a new GPS/Sounder combo. I have found two places in the US that have what I want at a bulls@#t price. One is "THE DIGITAL OASIS" and the other is "UNIVERSAL MANIA". Does anyone know of either of these two companies or have you had any experiences buying overseas?
