Assassin vs Poseidon surf rods
Submitted by 420casts on Thu, 2018-10-11 07:07Proud new owner of an Assassin Evo 14'6" and its damn awesome, got it at an extremely good price and casting distance has reached a new level. Just looking for some opinions as to which rods any of you fellow rock / surfcasters would rate and rely on for long casting and sliding. Cheers !

reel service
Submitted by gruntre69 on Wed, 2018-10-10 09:16I Did something that I rarely do and paid somebody to do mechanical work for me...
I got LR custom built rods to service my diawa overhead reel.
Laith came and collected it from me, took it away and then brought it back to me with a full service including 2 new bearings. He changed one to a ceramic bearing to avoid future corrosion issues.
All this was less than $100 and I'm well happy. I posted this of my own accord.
If you need a service look up LR custom built rods

Just after some advice/information on building a aluminium trailer, has anyone built one or have plans to do so? Or if a forum on here already exists, any advice would be much appreciated.

good ole Exmouth
Submitted by OldMateAdventures on Tue, 2018-10-09 18:35Hey team, new to the fishwrecked family. This has no doubt been asked to death in here but just chasing some guidance. Heading to Exmouth next week for the first time taking a boat (5m Trailcraft) for 11days up there. If i get out wide i'm pretty stoked just to be trolling a couple of lures out the back as i've never landed a Mackie. One question though, if it blows up sou westers can you still fish inside the reef comfortably on the west side or is it better to head into the gulf if that happens? (long range forcast isn't looking epic the first few days)
Thanks Champs and will hopefully post a pic or two of something more than a sunset! ha.
Cheers.

My mate Alan will be in Coral Bay from tonight (Monday 8th October) and he is hoping that someone might have a spot available either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. He has his own gear and is willing to pay his way plus for fuel, bait costs etc. He is staying at Bayview and his telephone number is 0419 890-509 if anyone has a place available

EPIRB activation experiences
Submitted by SeperateKnob on Mon, 2018-10-08 11:18I'm interested in hearing people's experiences who have activated their EPIRB in an emergency.
What was your situation, location, rescue time, and changes (if any) you have made to your emergency procedure/safety equipment setup.
For the record I would support compulsory wearing of lifejackets whilst vessel is underway for all boaties and passengers offshore.
Many thanks,

Boat Overdue
Submitted by The Saint on Fri, 2018-10-05 06:28Just heard on the radio that a boat has not returned from a fishing trip.
The radio report said a 5.5 metre vessel left Cockburn on Wednesday night with 4 on board and was due back yesterday/last night but has not returned.
Search underway this morning.
Hopefully all will work out well, and we'll see them being interviewed on the news tonight.

Pemberton water levels
Submitted by davewillo on Thu, 2018-10-04 09:56Hi all I'm planning my semi-regular Pemberton trip with my teenage son soon. We normally go late September but our last trip 2 years ago the water levels were way too high for most spots we fish. Anyone know what they're like at the moment? I may leave it for another few weeks and see then.
Appreciate advice as it's hard to find the time for a trip at the moment so I want to try and get it right. Spending quality time with my boy is reward enough but a few fish doesn't hurt! We mainly target trout for catch and release but a few reddies to eat are always welcome.
Cheers

Pinks on the sounder
Submitted by Scotte on Mon, 2018-10-01 22:50Few nice shots from the last 2 months.
The top pic was from inside cockburn, the rest are from outside the sound. Some days I've seen multiple schools on different spots so I reckon numbers are good.

Job Hunting - Give me something to laugh about... Before I cry!
Submitted by Helen on Mon, 2018-10-01 15:08When life gives you lemons... make lemonade! Then you just gotta find someone whos life gives them vodka... and throw a party!
On Friday I got made redundant by my Sydney based company. Downsizing and being replaced by a computer program. YAY! The job hunt this last few days has been painful. Im looking at job applications online and wishing I was a bloke. So many more options. Sux to be me! The only job I got excited about was a Skipper position with Top Gun and im not even qualified to do it. Lol. Now that would be living the dream.
Anyway im looking for a laugh so if you have any funny fishing stories (or a job for me) id love to hear them. Happy First Day of being unemployed to me! haha
Happy Monday everyone!

Lawrence Elite Series Deleted?
Submitted by SpotHound on Mon, 2018-10-01 08:23I have noticed BCF has Elite as a "clearance" line, which means it has been discontinued.
Other chains are having big discounts on them as well, should I buy one cheap or wait for whats coming out next?
