Halco twister 20g
Submitted by Tchampney on Mon, 2013-08-12 08:22As the weather being quite terrible for the boat lately, I've been heading down to my local beach (secret harbour) for around an hour each afternoon. I've just been going down with 1 rod casting a halco 20g twister into the white wash and retrieving it. I've had no luck! Do these work off the beach? Am I doing something wrong?

Recreational fishing map
Submitted by spook on Mon, 2013-08-12 07:16I had a look at the website on Scottywipers post and found this map. I think its a touch less confusing than the other map. We have all been through this discussion before so I dont see the need to do it again. This is just an informatiom post. I dont like the Labour Party and think this is a bit extreme. On the otherhand, less commercial fishing is a win.

New map reveals extent of angler lockout proposals
Submitted by scottywiper on Sun, 2013-08-11 21:44You owe it to yourself to check this out...
Keep Australia Fishing has been keeping Australia’s recreational fishers informed about the ‘Biggest Aussie Angler Lock Out’ that the Labor Government, supported by the Greens and anti-fishing lobby groups are wanting to be implemented through the Commonwealth Marine Park process. The proposed Marine Park LockOuts will see Aussie Anglers locked out of over 1.3 million square kilometres of our seas – and so far the Labor Government has not told us any reason why they need to do this!
You have been asking us whether there are further plans to LOCK Aussie anglers OUT of our seas? Have the ‘LOCKOUT’ Flood Gates Been Opened?
The ANSWER IS YES!
The attached indicative map was assembled from the Government’s proposed Marine Park plans as well as Marine Reserve proposals from environmental groups. The map shows proposed areas of marine reserves where recreational fishing would potentially be banned. The Labor Government has now set the precedent that Aussie Anglers will be banned from all future Marine National Parks – and again – they have not told us why we need to be banned. Diving, large scale tourism, cargo and bulk carriers and defense activities will still be allowed in these areas. Does a recreational fisher really pose a greater risk to the marine environment than these activities? We don’t think so.
If implemented these anti–fishing proposals would see major impacts on YOUR RIGHTS to go fishing – in fact it's hard to see a state or a region where your fishing rights would not be severely eroded.
And there is no need for this. There is no reason why recreational fishers need to be banned from vast areas of marine parks to have a world leading marine reserve system. There is no science to support these LOCKOUTS.
We are calling on all Candidates and Political Parties to support our call for an independent comprehensive scientific review of the Marine park process. Let's see what’s really behind the ‘Lock Outs’ and build a Marine reserve system based on science - not politics.
We need your Help to get our message to Political parties and to show YOUR Fishing Rights Matter.
It’s obvious that many politicians just don’t want to listen. However, you can help us make them listen and take notice by reminding them that there are 5 million recreational fishers in Australia and WE FISH and WE VOTE.
We have less than 26 days to make a difference, but we need to SPEAK UP!
Share this message far and wide. Forward this message to all your family, friends, fishing mates, work colleagues, next-door neighbour and anyone else you think might be interested.

Officiating a record fish
Submitted by Doooma on Sun, 2013-08-11 16:02After looking at that monster pinkie on the brag board by BunburyYakfisha, that has just become WA record...
I thought I would have a look at the overall records for WA.... Have to say I very surprised as there are a LOT of fish I know I have personally caught that are heavier than the records....
My question is.... if I catch a fish I would like to weigh in, who would I get (in Carnarvon) that can say officially, yes thats a record, or no? Is it fisheries?

Waders or wet feet?
Submitted by JamesB on Sun, 2013-08-11 08:49I spent the morning at Yanchep Lagoon without much luck. Dropped in at Club Capricorn also to see what was going on there. There was quite a mix of styles out there. Long pants with shoes and socks trying to stay dry, like me, bare feet and shorts, and waders.
Waders seem ideal in theory, but I worry about going in the water and having them fill up with water. There were some blokes on the rocks at Club Cap wearing waders, just didnt seem like a good idea to me.
What do other members think, any experiences?

Blackwood/Augusta
Submitted by Mike17 on Fri, 2013-08-09 11:11I'm thinking about heading down to camp for a couple of nights next month and fish from the Alexandria bridge down to the inlet.
Just after some info on what this time of the year is like as we are usually down there after Xmas when the inlet is full of whiting. Is it too early for crabs?
What can we expect to catch and what sort of gear will we need to get them.
Chers Mike
