Salmon moving back south
Submitted by Dale on Wed, 2014-05-28 11:22Watched a reasonable school of salmon move through not far off the beach in Busso this morning around 08:45. One guy moved across in a dinghy to try for them, but didn't see him land any, then it became apparent why when 6 or 7 dolphins started rounding them up and ripping through them. Got a bit of it videoed on my phone as did a couple others in the car park at the time. Right place at the right time.
Cheers

Eastern Lizards
Submitted by Mick C on Tue, 2014-05-27 19:59With the lack of recent fish photos, well from me at least due to this crap weather in Perth, a good mate of mine from over east has been taking the opportunity to bombard me with his awesome lizard captures. I must admit that I have been pissing my mates off with the WA pink photos that get texted as soon as possible, well within 1 minute I guess, far and wide with comments about how good the fishing is here. I particularly like it when we get multiple captures and can keep the texts flowing – the replies just seem to get more abusive as time goes on. I even got this pink card as a sign of appreciation. Anyway, I digress.
My mate is a big lizard legend. He works at the BP Bulwer Island Refinery (that one that is closing so that is not good) and his work mates call his office the Bulwer Island Bait Shop. He has worked there for years and if you don’t know it, it is located at the mouth of the Brisbane River. As a keen fisho he has the local conditions sussed right out and this time of year is renowned for the lizards. They seem to school up on the mud flats and can be caught in big numbers through May and June – he always sticks to the bag limit however. He is a soft plastic light gear guru and targets them before work, during lunch and after work from land that the general public are not allowed to access – lucky bastard. I know the lizards (crocodiles) don’t get as big here so thought members might like a look at some of the eastern images. He did admit that the WA pinks are something special however. Kilos of flathead fillets has got to be good.

Leeman Advice
Submitted by sarcasm0 on Tue, 2014-05-27 19:54Hey crew,
Im headed up to Leeman this weekend and have checked out the search function, but this weekend looks like a cold front may pass through saturday and dunno beyond. We are taking up the bathtub dinghy about 14 ft. Obviously will be assesing the conditions when we get there, but what are the ramps like? I have read there may be a new ramp, but it was not completed by easter? What condition is the other ramp in, we will have a Nissan patrol for launching, but if the swell is 2mt+ is launching and navigating the passage an option?
Any advice welcome, happy for beach tips if the weather is crap also or even inshore tips for squid and bread and butter fish.

NZ Fishing Show
Submitted by Alan James on Tue, 2014-05-27 14:22I recently came across a fishing show I hadn't seen before. It is called 'ADOS Addicted to Fishing'. It can be found on youtube. The six episodes I have viewed so far I thought have been well presented and there is not too much commercialism. OK it's not in Oz but some may find it interesting. Enjoy.

Submersible led for prawns
Submitted by buddharock on Mon, 2014-05-26 20:16Hey guys,
going to have a crack at prawns in the swan later this week. I'm trying to source some very bright led lights that are waterproof. Any ideas where I can get these reasonably cheap? Would prefer a store rather than online. Hoping to connect these to some PVC pipe and power with a 12v car battery. Bit wary of connecting to the boat battery.
Any advice welcome. Thanks

Spiral or Acid Wraps
Submitted by crasny1 on Mon, 2014-05-26 13:44I was intrigued years ago when SeanSurfy caught a monster on a spiral wrap overhead outfit in NZ. Check out the fish????

What has been the trend with this novel idea. Anyone still uses these or give it merit above traditional?

bush lawyers
Submitted by walloped on Sun, 2014-05-25 20:14I've been having a discussion with a fisheries officer about their rights/powers and the following were a source of disagreement.
1. Fisheries ask for permission to board a boat and it is denied...I believe if they persist and board they are close to piracy.
2. Fisheries knock on your door and ask to search yor house...again you deny them permission. What do they need to enforce this right that they do have? Do they need the police to enforce the warrant? Can they smash your door down?
3. I have no reason other than social justice to deny them either...I have nothing to hide but dislike big brother antics.
Cheers, I look forward to the responses.

Jurien Bay, Cervanties or Lancelin
Submitted by Broseph on Sat, 2014-05-24 18:19 Around late june early july, 6 of my mates and 1 will be heading out for a camping trip. We are undecided on wheather we should go to Jurien Bay, Cervanties or Lancelin. Im just curious to what you guys think on which place would be the best for fishing, also what to expect/target? all fishing will be land based and we all will have the required gear.
All input would be appreciated as I need a photo of me with a respectable fish as my profile pic (:

rockingham salmon!!!
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2014-05-24 15:47hi guys, today ni went to dawsville cut trying for salmon but it was so windy, so we started going back home when i thought that i should go and stop at rockingham jetty for a few hours. so when i go there i started bottoming for snapper, oly atch ing heaps of north western blowies so i was just staring at the water when i saw 2 salmon attak baitfish, so i quikly got the lure out. second cast hook a moster, estimated 7kg, but it spat the hook, so about 10 cast later i landed this wopper. 5.5kg and 81cm. i am stoked!!!. caught on a rapala x rap. good fight
