Penn Spinnfisher Metal 950SSm
Submitted by glastronomic on Tue, 2011-03-22 20:35Found some bargain egg beaters.
Penn Spinfisher metal 950SSm $119 new, at a well known fishing shop.
Max drag rating =6.8kg
And takes a fair bit of braid, mine took 300ft of 85lb braid with filler underneath!
saltwater use designed.
Should withstand a fair size fish (I hope)

They have different sizes in this series all discounted to the same price.
If you want to know where NOR , PM me please.

Daiwa Electric Reel Service?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Mon, 2011-02-28 09:18I have a Daiwa Powerful Tanacom GS-80 which got dropped a few weeks back and hasn't worked since. Just had a look through it and most of the internals seem fine, just doesn't have it's auto retrieve capability. The buttons etc are in Japanese for all the functions it can do but there's only two that I want which should be quite straight forward (auto and manual winch retrieve) (the reel can be used fine as a normal reel but who wants to wind up empty hooks when it has an auto capacity). I've got a mate heading down to Perth in a few days and would like to get it dropped in somewhere to get fixed, anyone know who might be best to get it sorted for me?
Cheers,
Adam

Which combo
Submitted by CCC on Sun, 2011-02-27 20:41Howdy
Looking at buying a new rod and reel combo, have heaps of the good gear for creeks now chasing something for offshore.
Mainly fish in the northwest from Exmouth to Derby. I'm after something that I can bottom bounce, jig & troll with.
Guess I will be targeting reds, emperour, goldies and macs, dollies etc.
Try my best to narrow it down to 1 combo to do all. currently run overheads but open to spin.
Price wise something middle field
Cheers

Tackle sellout in Myaree
Submitted by Cammos on Sun, 2011-01-30 14:50Took the trip to Myaree today to have a look at the sale advertised in todays Sunday Times. Spent just under $200 and I felt like I ended up paying around half price, got a mixture of knife jigs, stick baits, plastics, some leader, lures among some other various stuff that will possibly never get used. I would say my best buy was a 400b Black Magic jig for $15 and a 300g for $12. Pretty sure I have paid $30 for these previously, but could be wrong.

Recommendations for a rod to suit a Saltist 6500 spin reel
Submitted by Faulksy on Sat, 2010-08-28 15:41Hi All
I am looking to buy a heavy spin outfit and have decided to give the Daiwa Saltist 6500 a go. I am looking at spending 200 - 300 0n a rod and was wondering if any one could provide me with some feedback on the following rods. I am trying to make it a multi purpose heavy spin out fit capable of casting, jigging etc. I know that this will mean its a comprimise but do not do enough of any one particular thing to buy a specialised outfit.
The below rods seem to be in the ball park.
Shimano T curve King Mac 2.13m 8 - 12 kg
Daiwa monster mesh 582xhs 5'8" PE 6 - 8
Live fibre rlf 6'6" 10 -15kg
Live fibre Texalium rlftx15 6'6" 10 - 15kg
Any comments would be appreciated.
Cheers
Pete

Real to match Shimano
Submitted by chookc on Sat, 2010-08-14 16:54After advise on real to match a Shimano Gold 15-24 SU-RT rod..
main fishing is bottom bashing or trolling...
Budget under 450 dollars..
Not sure what this rods main purpose is as it was given to me..
Unsure whether to put a 2 speed tld 30 or similar with 4- 50- lb braid
or
to go a spin real.
Currently have a a tld 25 and 50 a shimano baitrunner 6500b and another cheaper serate i think spin real... and a pen senator (35 years old but as good as the day it was bought) These reals are already matched to boat rods.
Is this rod suitable for jigging? for demersals and the likes etc.. and if so what sort of real is best...
Thanks

im looking for a heavy spinning rod and am looking inparticular at the catana.
im looking at the 10 foot surf but is says they only come in OH would it really matter if i used it with a TL?
the 10 foot OH has a heavier line and lure rating which is more what im after.
i know the spine will be on the opposite side but will that really matter??
