Baitcaster Vs Spin
Submitted by chris308 on Sat, 2010-05-22 09:03Are low profile baitcaster reels better than spin Reels for targetting bream etc ??
Are there major advantages or disadvantages ?
I'm thinking of getting an outfit, but some of the info I've seen on the net always mentions backlash.
Is this still a major problem?

PURCHASING A NEW SOUNDER
Submitted by Dirt on Sun, 2010-03-07 19:11**I'm new to this forum/site, so not sure if this is the best place for this post, if not please let me know.**
I am looking to purchase a new sounder for our boat, the model I'm looking at is a Furuno 295, I have quoted by Taylor Marine $4950.00 and have been told it would be best to run dual transducers at an additional cost of $1100.00.
So I have a few questions to ask:
What are the pro's and con's of purchasing a unit from the US as there seems to be a bit of saving to be made.
Does anybody know roughly the cost of a wet box set up and if it's possible in a Caribbean Reef Runner and if yes does anyone know where you can get this done in Perth.
Has anyone experienced transom mount transducers for this unit as I've been told I need to get special brackets made up for this purpose. If yes, can you give any guidance on cost and where to get it done in Perth.
Also if anyone has any opinion/advice on a transom mount versus a wet box for this unit I'd love to hear from you.
Appreciate any time spent in answering my above questions.

Deepwater fishing made easy!
Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Sun, 2010-02-14 16:39With the deepwater fishing and jigging becoming very popular there's no doubt theres a big part of hard yakka with this extreme fishing and often very tedious!
The advancements of electric fishing reels has changed the deepwater fishing and not only made it more assessable but made it sooo much easier. I use a Daiwa one myself and when i get no bites, miss the fish ie drifting, hook a shitty fish and/or hooking greeneye sharks I just press the button. Up comes my jig as thats my prefered way to get em but also ideal for bottom rigs as even with water pressure they come up at a very fast rate. Normal retrieve speed say 100m per minute and up to 130m per minute with a maximum drag of 22kg!
Makes deepwater fishing easy and enjoyable which after many years of doing it the hard way took the shine off a bit but more so when i was wanting to find more new spots. I use the reel normally after hook up and fight all my fish manually as I prefer that but the reel is capable of power assist!
Normally retailing for $999- $1049
* For website members were doing it for $949
* FREE Fishwrecked Stubby holder with every purchase also!
Specs;
Tanacom Bull 1000
* Programmable jigging function
* High-Powered High-Speed Power assist
* Brass and aluminium gearing
* Five precision ball bearings
* Washable water resistent design
* 20-22kg drag
Line Capacity: 1000m (60lb braid) approx
Line Capacity: 700m (80lb braid) approx
Gear Ratio: 2.3 to 1.
Volts: 12
Amps: Approx 15
Weight: 1530 grams.
