Submitted by crasny1 on Fri, 2010-07-23 17:44Hi guys
Been Hbday aqain and the boss gave me permission for a R&R combo.
Got the Diawa MM as above and would love to get the idea of the best reel to turn this into a slayer.
Rod code:mm582xhb-SIC.
Was thinking of a Torsa but I think it is overkill.
Will be for trolling and BB,

QUALITY TORCHES
Submitted by PJAY on Fri, 2010-07-23 10:10Guys this is a general info post and not pushing a company but i thought there ar a lot of LB members out there who are probably looking for a handsfree led torch. Have a look at the link below. I just purchased the led model vb 2220 flash light and i have to say its the ducks nuts! Can clip onto jackets, hats etc and keeps your hands free. Lifetime warranty included.
i have no personal interest in the product or the company but thought i would share knowledge of a good product with members. There must be a distributor here in WA??

Xtreme Coolers now ready to service the North of WA
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Fri, 2010-07-23 09:17Hi all
After a lot of discussions with transport companies Xtreme Coolers is very pleased to announce to you all that Davis Road will be used to transport our cooler boxes up the North Coast. Davis have quoted a flat rate of $27.00 per box (GST included) which is a fantastic rate. Early next week (27.7.10) they will be taking ten boxes up to Port Hedland for the Port Hedland Game Fishing Club.
I am very pleased to finally be able to provide this service to the Northern regions. The rate past Port Hedland will be a bit higher. Interested people North of this will have a separate quote done.
If any other clubs and associations are interested in our products, please ring Dave to discuss bulk orders on 0403978583.
Spread the news and a big thanks to Davis Road for their support and service. If you need a service North, give John a call at Davis Road i have been very impressed with them.
I also look forward in getting up North and hopefully participating in a few comps.
Regards
Dave Allen

Air Asia- Fishing Rods?
Submitted by Moohan on Wed, 2010-07-21 23:14Hey Guys,
Has anyone travelled Air Asia with a fishing rod? Heading to Indo in a week and I'm considering taking a popping stick for some of the GT's I see cruising around one of the spots I stay. Rods aren't included on the list of sporting equipment carried by Air Asia, so I'm wondering if it will just count as normal baggage, or attract extra cost. The rod tube should only measure about 6 foot.
Cheers

Danny Green fight
Submitted by Dale on Wed, 2010-07-21 21:37What a total gyp, Paul Briggs has gone down 15 seconds into the 1st round with a punch that didn't even brush his hair and came up all wobbly when untouched, WTF happened there? Danny was dumb founded and spent the rest of the time apologising to the crowd. Was shown in our wet mess up here in Dampier, glad I didn't pay for a ticket or bought in on Fox.
Cheers

handy inventions
Submitted by PJAY on Tue, 2010-07-20 15:58this may have been posted before and if it has let me know......i am sure there are many of you out there who have invented, adapted, fitted gadgets, accessories, items to your boats, tackle bags, chairs etc that are novel, made life easier etc....are you getting the picture?
Basically anything you would like to share with other FW members that may make their life easier. To start off with i have a simple boat rod holder extension consisting of 400mm x 40mm plastic tubing that fits neatly into the boat rod holders. My eggbeater reels now don't bang on the deck and chip the paint. If you are using overheads just simply pull the extension tubes out and stow away.
See below link for starters?

Best fighting Demersal Pound for pound
Submitted by crasny1 on Mon, 2010-07-19 14:00Reading a post about the poor fight with a Dhue made me think what is the best fighter pound for pound.
Came up with Chinaman, NW snapper with Blue line top off the pops and jacks.
Interested to know others thought as there are plenty of fish I havent caught (yet).
Only Demersals but I am not sure whether a GT is demersal or pelagic.

user profiles
Submitted by Paul G on Sun, 2010-07-18 12:37I have noticed a lot of new people have been coming on the site and don't bother filling in any details on themselves, where theyre from, rods, reels, interests, male or female, as sometimes you can't tell from their user name. I have clicked on a few I was going to invite for a fish but they have no details. And I would like to know a little about these people before I ask them on my boat .

Dozen snags
Submitted by big john on Sat, 2010-07-17 20:09Just got back from dinner to see West Coast has rolled the Bombers.
Honestly couldn't care either way but I can't recall the last time any forward (big or small) in the AFL kicked twelve goals.
Good effort from Lecras.

Pinger
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2010-07-16 15:03Went out for a fish at the Lady Joyce wreck today.Fished at the wreck for a couple of hours with very little return for effort, 2 reasonable silver bream 2 good and 3 just average yellow fin bream and a just size spanish flag with the usual 2 million undersize fish sent back.
We moved to a spot about 1.5 nm east and dropped the anchor and started fishing. We heard another boat logging on to sea rescue and his destination was the Joyce so peace and quiet for us. Bugger me dead if this prick spotted us and came straight over asking how we were going. My reply was that we were doing well untill some wanker drove over and pinged our spot and told him this wasn't the Lady Joyce, to which he replied "I know".
Thats allright for him but his boats name is MUDDY WATERS, I hope everyone watches out for the pinging prick.
Sorry no pics as forgot the camera and the fish were not speccy enough to take a shot of.

PTO drives
Submitted by 7739ian on Thu, 2010-07-15 11:05Anyone who has read my posts will realise i have the maechanical skills of Mother Teresa, so please exscuse my ignorance - BUT - i am looking at purchasing an attachment usually mounted on a tractor PTO - if i can fit it to a 4WD. The reason for this to do away with the need to either truck a tractor or road register it. I remember that years ago a Landrover? that had a PTO connection at the rear as standard perhaps. I also would need to rear mount the auger. Can anyone advise please?

FW Almost Darwin Awards
Submitted by crasny1 on Tue, 2010-07-13 07:57Hi All
After hearing about the idiot in broome trying to have a swim with one of Butler's crocs I thought wouldnt it be a good laugh to post our almost Darwin award moments.
Mine certainly happened a long time back paddling out a live bait in a bucket to a channel in South Africa for my father. It was in a old canadian canoe and dad was using a Penn overhead. As you can guess the thing got a Birds nest at the wrong time and I got caught midthigh by the hook. It skipped along the skin and finally hooked about an inch below the then unused family jewels.
Needless to say I was paddling madly backward by that stage, with a mullet still attached to the hook slapping against my legs. Took some minor surgery to remove the hook but alls well!!!
Hope there is some other almost disaster stories good for a laugh.

Windy weather in Carnarvon
Submitted by carnarvonite on Mon, 2010-07-12 18:37Got a phone call at 0620 on Saturday morning saying that the sea rescue boat was needed urgently to pull a large catamarn yacht off the rock wall in the Fascine. For the next five hours the crew on the boat was busy towing 3 yachts [one twice] and a cabin cruiser away from the rocks while the wind gusted to forty knots. Charlie, Les and Ian, the crew on the boat did an excellent job in trying conditions with limited room to manouvre between the other moored vessel. The first yacht had to be towed to the slipway later to be pulled from the water with numerous holes punched through the hull.
Just before dark I got another call from one of our home bases reporting a large jetty pile floating out off the prawning jetty, radio warnings were put out and along with another crew member I went out to find it and tow it in to the harbour for removal.
Finding the floating pile was easy as it was like glass it was so flat. Looking round to see if there was any more we found another one complete with cross beams next to the prawning jetty. There was major damage to the jetty with decking being lifted up from the force of the waves and sadly it may be the start of end for it.
To make thing worse got another call that there is another pile floating out from the one mile jetty with a couple more tangled up where a section of the jetty there has collapsed so its a trip out there first thing in the morning
