fin nor 950 offshore line lsy
Submitted by tangles on Tue, 2014-05-13 16:54hey guys. Have had my 950 offshore for while and have never been able to get the line lsy even! Thought it might be because of casting distance with the way it lays from narrow at bottom to wide at top but not sure. Just wasting alot of spool that could be loaded up with more line. For those that have them do you have the same problem or can you fix it with washers (which I couldnt see anyway). Any help would be great.

Deep Drop Fish Quality Rating
Submitted by Bodie on Mon, 2014-05-12 14:10Now that there is quite a lot more people doing the deep drop and having success catching fish in those depth, I am interested ineveryones opinion on the eating quality of the different species.
I've only been out a couple times and caught Blue eye Trevella and recently in Exmouth getting a few Ruby snapper.
I had some Ruby last night, and I thought it was a lot better than Blue eye.
Whats everyone else's opinion?
Blue Eye Trevella
Grey Band
Bass Groper
Harpuka
Ruby Snapper.
Rate them in your 'best on the chew' order.
Cheers

No sonar charts on navionics platinum plus
Submitted by Stimmsy on Mon, 2014-05-12 07:54Hi all,
Just purchased a new lowrance HDS 7m and I can't seem to get the sonar charts to work. I have done the latest downloads from navionics which shows the sonar charts but still no joy.
I have navionics plus on my iPhone and it's super easy to use and has sonar charts for Australia and newzealand. I don't imagine they would of made it hard to use on my plotter.
has anyone else had these problems or am I doing something wrong??
cheers

Heading north fishing for winter, not coral bay. ?
Submitted by baron 88 on Sun, 2014-05-11 21:47Hi all
im planning on heading up north again this winter to do a few weeks fishing. We will be taking the boats and 4x4s and camping somewhere. Just haven't decided where to go yet. After ideas of places besides coral bay and exmouth that have boat access. Just a cement ramp of decent beach launch is ok. Any suggestions would be appreciated
thanks

LED lights for night time driving
Submitted by Oracle on Sun, 2014-05-11 21:24Lads,
Looking at lighting up the drive on the Stabi as I catch myself out late and coming home after dark too often. The cray pots make it a shit of a trip home. I was thinking a LED light bar on the roof (like a 4x4 light bar)to give me a good drive home.
Is this the best option?

Exmouth Crays and Mud Crabs
Submitted by vscorsa on Sun, 2014-05-11 11:33Hi All,
We are heading to Exmouth on Tues for a couple of weeks and have grabbed valuable info off the site as always.
I am however chasing some more information on the mud crab and cray situation. Are there any main places and tricks when trying to catch mud crabs?
Are there many crays up that way? I am taking some snorkeling gear and a snare so after any advice on this one as well.
Thanks

PB 3 Mile Pink Snapper
Submitted by Mick C on Sun, 2014-05-11 10:44As per my previous posts we have been continuing to fish 3 Mile targeting pinkies, and any other by-catch available. We entered the MAAC Club monthly competition yesterday and were lucky enough to pick up a 8.48kg (18.7lb) pinkie off the 3 Mile – weighed in on certified scales. It was certainly nice to get a fish like this in an actual competition and it paid well with the jackpot (nominated species with a weight over 8kg – fishing shop voucher), fish of the month (pinkies were the nominated fish for May – lovely Victorinox filleting knife) and the species prize (Club voucher). Also got a 1.09kg (2.4lb) skippy on the pinkie rig and that won a species award as well. I must say that I put it down to pure arse rather than anything else.
Although we have been fishing for pinkies at dawn and dusk, and getting a few, this one took the bait at 11am in the middle of a rain shower. Might have to rethink strategy and target them during the day as well, just after the big swells. We probably wouldn’t have been out there given the conditions and the time if it wasn’t for the competition. Got to be lucky sometimes I guess.

Black Hole blanks Jigging and Popping
Submitted by Russell Iles on Sun, 2014-05-11 08:49G'day Fish Wrecked Mates,
Anyone had personal experience with Bushido & or Black Hole blanks?
Manufacturers promotional adverts are exactly that, their view.
Wherea, my view is that self promotion is not a recomendation.
I like to get first hand information based on operator use/experience.
Have a couple of Phenix Hybrid blanks custom made & most impressed.
Thought I'd go another brand for jigging & popper rods.
Intended use WA's GREAT coast line down south then up along your GREAT coast & around to Darwin.
Any suggestions welcome if you have personal experience using your brand recomendation.
All personal experience opinions appreciated.

Another Salmon Topic
Submitted by lachieH on Sat, 2014-05-10 11:59Hi everyone. Was thinking of heading down to Tims thicket beach next week for some salmon. Any suggestions on lures? Will be bringing a 13ft rod, 8ft for lures and a 7ft for lures as well. Thinking of Saturday morning. My main question is have there been schools hanging around there still or have they moved into the deeper water now? I have heard the reports of salmon at the north mole and port beach so was wondering where should I go? Lachie

Ocean whaler owners
Submitted by Marineboy on Thu, 2014-05-08 20:41
Hey guys
i own an ocean whaler and love my boat and the only downfall I can find with it is that I can't get echo sounder reception at any greater speed than about 12 knots or 22kmh.
I have an airmar transom mount transducer with a fcv-620 furuno sounder.
Would love to hear from any ocean whaler owners who can get better reception than this.
Any input or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Daiwa Lexa 2000 seized up
Submitted by bronzey92 on Thu, 2014-05-08 16:42G'day fellas,
The other day I was fishing off the rocks and another bloke casted over my line, being a bit pissed off and not thinking I took a step and ended up stepping into thin air (smart i know). Ended up landing on one knee and my right hand which was holding my rod..
After silently cursing and mending my battle wounds I had another cast and when trying to retrieve my reel was seizing up (obviously from hitting the rock) - the best way I can describe the sensation is if you were trying to retrieve your line and it was wrapped around the tip of the rod. I had a bit of fiddling around/dissasembled (as much as i dare) and it seems to be the handle which is the problem..
Any advice or help would be much apprieciated!
Cheers,
Matt.
