A good friend has asked me for some advice with respect to these boats.  Anybody know anything about them, good or bad.

I have a Baron fuel tank thats going to be chucked out. Rubbish pick up starting Monday. Alluminium, 90 lt, below deck. Has pitting in the bottom, but could be repaired. I replaced the tank with a stainless one, too much frigging about to get it welded, purge certificates etc.

Hasn't had fuel in it for two years, so should be well and truely purged now. Your mate !! should be able to fix it. Free to good home.

Hi - just need some advice ona 1979 evinrude 85hp just bought. Throttle control came up with an alarm for some 2 minutes then went away - engine seems to run fine?

Also have a black panel instrument with just a push switch which seems to have a wire going down to the motor and not connected - any thoughts?

please can anyone share their thoughts on the nautiglass 15ft half cab.
i have the opportunity to purchase one from a mate
not sure of exact age but probably 80s hull
approx 2002 Evinrude 70hp 4 strk (this is a suzuki motor right?)with about 400hrs, 320 of which by my mate in the last 1.5years.
has a lowrance split system with colour sounder - don't know the model but it sounds at 20knots.
other bits and bobs all straight forward.

any advice on what to ask/check/ensure or what would be a fair price - its always difficult to set a price between mates.

ps: i am aware of ALL the old cliches about buying gear off mates. i have been on this boat heaps and know it well, i have a solid honest mate and i reckon this is a positive all things considered.

I have an error code 0x4001 coming up oa a raymarine rc 400 hand held GPS, just wondering if anybody else has had the same problem, or how much to have it repaired.

just tryin to get some info about trailering with the new motor.

my old johnson had the little latch for keeping the engine up whilst travelling, without putting all the pressure on the rams. it worked a treat. trim all the way up, flick the latch over, and trim down until it engages. 

when i got the new suzuki put on, the guy told me just to keep it as low as possible (without hittin the ground) when trailering, but the manual also suggests using a "transom saver bar" (an adjustable bar that rests on your trailer, and cradles your motor leg, for support), for rough roads or extended trips. it does have a latch, but it doesnt actually work (brand new motor too).

what i need to know is, how much damage can be done to the motor/rams, from trailering with the motor up? who uses transom saver bars? who has done damage, and what was it?

Im trying to do some research on a repower on a boat that im looking at its a BARRON SPORTSMAN and has an old volvo in it as i have posted on a previous topic, just wondering opinions on mercruser or volvo i dont want to put a pod on it and im asking this as I have heard that volvo parts and servicing can be hard to get so it makes me lean towards mercruiser is this true thourghts and ideas wopuld be great.

I have purchased a Volvo QL trim tab 300mm kit and would like to get them fitted to the boat but have the following things that will need to be done at the same time for them to fit.  The boat is a NZ ally extremeboats 665 Hardtop (current boat name in their range is 650 gameking).  I need to have the transcuder mount relocated, the water intake for a deckwash (which I currenlty dont have) modified/moved and a small bar used to route the transducer cable moved.  I would also like to explore the possability of mounting the tabs onto a 10mm think plate that is drilled and tapped as to avoid putting 8 extra holes into the transom.

Can anyone recommend someone who if familar with fitting the volvo ql trim tabs and can do the ally work as well??

does anyone know where i can get some rod holders like on the stabicraft on ifish?

i only need the bent stainless steel part and will weld to a rail

Really keen to find out fellow fw members thoughts on hydrofoils.Who's got them and who thinks they are advantageous.My boat seems to sit bow up quite a bit at low speeds will hydrofoils help.I have a 5.9m fibreglass centre console with a 150hp two stroke on the back.

hey all, my outboard decided to take a swim in the swan a few months back and i still havent rebuilt it yet-   im having alot of trouble gettign the flywheel off-

does anyone have a puller for a tohatsu? or have secrets to getting the damn thing off? failing that- does anyone here like a tinker and want a cashy? :P

or have a decnt 20-30hp forward cntrol they want to get rid of?

I’m looking at a new motor for a 6.1 Mako Craft. I’m looking for something with a little grunt but good on fuel as I only have a 150lt fuel tank that dose not last to long with the old girl. The motor I have now is 125 Mercury 10years old just about to hit the tin. I have been checking out the new Verado 135hp. Any help would be great cheers

Hi guys I have a 17 ft streaker cuddy cabin it has a sealed hull but after being out for a few hours when taking plugs out there is quite a bit of water in there I cant see any cracks and new bung plugs any suggestions on finding where it is coming in please thanks

Hi all just brought a 6.7 sport fisher Surtees, only problem is its got no Anchor Winch has anyone else got one and what sort have they fitted?

Any body heard much about or have a Zongshen? They are a chinese outboard i know you are all groaning already but if i can manage to get them to send 1 outboard by itself should prove to be a cheap brand new 30hp :P (under 2k) im not made of money so that sounds brilliant... would i just be wastign my time?  any ideas?

looking at a new /2nd hand cat and was just after so info on how they handle in the seas over here compared to say an old shark cat/ noosa cat , not interested in leisure cat as it seemed to be a bit to unstable when at drift

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can help, I have a Eagle FishMark 500c sounder. Unfortunately for whatever reason, the cable that connects from the power unit & transducer corroded. Only the pins in the "head" of the cable is corroded. Its a 6 pin plug -- so what i can do is cut the head off, buy another head and rewire, much like  a trailer plug but l'm not sure where i could possibly get one?
