The Prowler
Submitted by DazSamFishing on Mon, 2010-08-09 17:02Here she is. The Prowler sitting in the driveway. We've been without a boat for 3 years (boy does the time fly) - I can't explain how excited I was when we picked her up.
Details:
Haines Hunter Prowler 520; Honda 90; Furuno Sounder; Lowrance HDS Plotter; Northstar VHF; Dunbier Trailer.
I've spent a few hours in it, both on water & on land. It's already been blooded.
I'll get some more pics up in due course.
Can't wait for the next Exxy trip.

Which Coastal Boat Ramp in Perth Region?
Submitted by Fortis on Sun, 2010-08-01 23:05http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/imarine/19106.asp
This link shows all of the coastal boat ramps NOR and SOR in Perth.
Those of you who frequent the Perth coastal boat ramp scene, which ramp offers the best access to the better fishing grounds for blue water fishing?
Also, which of these ramps are the best organised with least bottlenecks at busy times.
I am relocating to Perth and I need to decide where I want to store the boat and possibly reside in the Perth region.

MACS corrosion inhibitor
Submitted by jdog1980 on Thu, 2010-07-29 15:54Hi Guys,
I have recently had my boat serviced and I asked why I keep getting rust stains on my leg - MAG350 bravo 3 (1 year old), I was recommended by the dealer to use MACS after each use, claim is that it protects pump seals and stops any block corrosion. Has anyone had any experience with this product? Any advice would be appreciated.

SOR Fiberglass repairs.
Submitted by Justin Poole on Thu, 2010-07-29 09:01Moved south of the river now, was using GT fiberglass in wangara,
Could anyone recommend a good repair guy SOR? Have you got there number? Just noticed some cracking along the transom after bolting on a new 4 stroke.
Also would I see a surveyor to up grade the recommended horse power stamp on the boat? My model says max 90hp but a lot of UB670's have 100 stamped on there, I am thinking this might be an issue with insurance if the shit hits the fan? May be beef the transom up and get it re surveyed?
Cheers
Justin

how to attach foot straps on a sandboard? any ideas?
Submitted by wide open on Mon, 2010-07-19 17:51i have recently picked up a cheap 2nd hand sandboard, i took it to a small dune and although it work really good i find it a bit hard to urn and keep my feet in place and this board doesnt have those black straps to slide your foot under to add stabilitly etc
so any ideas how to actaully fix the straps to the board?, without screwing right through as i think a nut sticking out will really slow the board down
i was thinkin of using the material thats used in a tie sown strap, that webbing, but cant fugure out how to fix it strongl on the board
thanks

Baron Sportsman info
Submitted by iana on Sun, 2010-07-18 06:50I am looking at making up a fiberglass battery box to fit into this space in the floor. Can anyone out there tell me whether this shoulder in the bilge is structural, or have any importance to the integity of the hull. I think its where the front engine mounts for an inboard were attached. Can it be cut away?
The area is aft of the fuel section, between that section and the transom. Any picutures or info would be appreciated.

rocket launchers
Submitted by Adonis on Fri, 2010-07-16 12:33Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows where to get those self fit rocket launchers from? I know they don't look the best but i need to get the canopy retrimmed anyway so I was thinking of getting it incorporated into the rocket launcher, would probably look a lot better. I would get some made but i'll be getting a new boat next year.
Cheers!

Fuel use, new 100hp yammy 4 stroke
Submitted by Justin Poole on Thu, 2010-07-15 07:47I am just upgrading the engine on my 670UB Banana Boat to a fuel injected 100hp 4 stroke, from a 90 yam 2 stroke.
The dealers say I will get 30 to 50% savings on the fuel by comparisson.
My mate shomby has the same boat and engine only his is a carby model, his rule of thumb with the fuel is when doing 20 knots its 20 litres per hour, 30 knots 30 litres per hour. Will there be much difference with the fuel injection to the carby model?
Has anyone got the same set up? what prop size are you runnning, Chivers marine say the standard prop works well, an opinion from another owner would be good.
The model I am gettingfitted is 06 it has not got the nema 2000 so cannot hook it up the my HDS 7 so am fitting a Lowrance fuel flow sesor and memory modual, Luke chivers has set up boats with this system before so I will be able to program tank size, and get all the data up on the screen, how much I am using, how much fuel is left in tank etc, great for monebello abrollos murian trips. With the old 2 smoke long trips were scary.
The stainless fuel tank that came with the boat cracked once, this has now been welded up and is sound. although for piece of mind was wondering if fibre glassing around suspect seams in the tank would be sufficient reinforcing. the last thig i want on one of the above trips is the tank splitting on me - fire, tow back to port, death, come to mind, haha.
all opinions and comments appreciated
thanks
