Missed call phone scam
Submitted by ranmar850 on Mon, 2018-02-12 19:53 For those that aren't aware, there is a very prevalent phone scam going on at the moment. You will get a missed call from an overseas number--if you are slow off the mark, and call back, you will be put on hold while the phone bill racks up at an incredible rate. Don't blame Telstra or whovever your provider is, this is up to you. It will always be from somewhere unlikely--I've had them from Estonia and a couple of different parts of Cuba; they likely won't be from anywhere you should be getting calls from. So, unless you are scam prone, and think it just may be that Nigerian prince finally getting back to you
, just don't bother to ring back. And not even worth blocking the number--unless you actually ring back, they will only try once.

What are my options
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2018-02-06 14:11So about two months ago a fella advertises custom made paternoster rigs on FB for a pretty good price, twisted droppers etc so thought I might grab a few as I sometimes can't be arsed making them. So we have a discussion and he says send the money and I'll have the rigs the following week. Anyway about two weeks pass and nothing so I message him saying I'm a bit annoyed as I was hoping to use them over Xmas.
Message back with an apology and he would have a few out to me to keep me going over Xmas, a week later nothing. More messaging and he assures me he sent them. Fast forward to a couple of weeks after Xmas and I'm getting pissed off by this stage, more apologies from him and excuses of sore hands from carpal tunnel etc any way he assures me he has all the rigs done and he has sent them two weeks later nothing. So two supposed parcels have gone missing in the post yeah right. I know he has the address correct as I checked the message I sent himwith that. I have threatened him with reporting him to the police with fraud or naming and shaming on FB.
Anyway he insinuates that I might have possibly recieved them and am trying to scam my money back WTF!! Why in hell would I go to all that effort. Last couple of communications he was going to refund my money of course that hasn't happened, now he won't return my messages.
I'm just looking for some opinions on options of what to do about this prick, report to cops (who I'm sure are busier with more important things) or name and shame him on FB?

WTB 4X4 ute - Xtra or dual cab
Submitted by bouttime on Tue, 2018-02-06 09:57Bit of a long shot but chasing a 4X4 ute for the beach here in Exmouth. Does not need to be fancy as its only to tow the boats and down the beach. Need something reliable with Aircon and rated to 2T. Can fly down and drive something back if anyone has one they are looking to sell or will sort something out if you want to drive up (maybe a couple days fishing and flights home ???). Willing to pay up to $5K. Cheers

Submitted by Faulkner Family on Mon, 2018-02-05 17:22After reading another thread about sea anchors, how do you rig them and and which way do you drift.
We always use a y bridle and secure on port side drifting side on to the wind fishing 2 off one side and allows a 3rd to fish comfortable from the starboard sters

Home exstentions
Submitted by Mitch88 on Sun, 2018-02-04 08:36Recently purchased a 1970s home in Waikiki beach side. 3x2 double brick and tile , pool with a 918sqm block.
Bought it with the idea of a big exstention, extending out the front and would like to put a second story on.
Anyone done similar or keen to share your experience with how it went? My understanding is once we have a idea on the design we want we get in a draftman, submit plans to builders etc etc...
Would be good to see some photos of what you guys have done.
Cheers mitch

Submitted by Happy Hooker on Tue, 2018-01-30 10:27Hi All
Looking to get new Acrylic Windscreen and sides / new frames put in while I am at it on Trailcraft 6.3m.
Just seeing if anyone had theirs replaced recently and any recommendations who they used and happy with price / final finish . Prefer NOR but happy to go South if they do good job.
Also did you get anodized or powdercoated frames ( I need black) ?
Had a look on search but they are all older discussions.

Solar set up - Camping
Submitted by kirky79 on Mon, 2018-01-29 09:48Just chasing a bit of info on what solar set ups people use for camping. We recently got back from 2 weeks on Ningaloo station. We run 2, 80 litre Engels, one as a fridge and the other as a freezer. I have always run a 1 kva Honda genny and never had a problem, but have been thinking if I run solar during the day and the Genny at night I won't need to cart as much fuel in as I do.
So my questions are. What size panels to run my Engels for the days, and what size battery? Or just stick with what I'm doing.
TIA. Chris

Got out finally
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2018-01-28 22:17 With the winds suposedly dropping off we decided a 6 we were putting the tub in the briney this time we took our deck boss out with us .
We hit the water at about 7 and on our spot by 7:10 burley bomb set and the baits going out in anticipation . After about an hour with choppers hitting the baits like piranas i was constantly rebaiting. One of the lines took off but i knew straight away it wasnt a snapper but a small shark . With the winds picking up instead of dropping as forecast we called 10 minuits. Moments later another line went off taking me around the anchor rope . With a bit of manouvering i managed to see the culprit damn eagle ray . Oh well . Called a night and back in by 9:15 with a nice feed of shark.

Best/Biggest Roof toppable tinny???
Submitted by timboon on Sun, 2018-01-28 12:48Crew....
In the market for a new Tinny ( good second hand would do )
Needs to be roof toppable as we are buying a van to tow for trips away.......
Ideas?
Do you crew know anyone that RT's a 4.0mtr hornet?
They'd be ideal i would have thought but not sure how doable they are to roof top??
It will be going on a sturdy aluminum canopy that will handle a couple of hundred kgs if needed....
Boon...
