Transducers Ali Hull
Submitted by Peko on Tue, 2017-08-15 12:05Apologies for the round about response. I couldnt manage to respond to initial query? not sure why. Anyway a shot of 2x2kw transducers that I had on the back of my Barcrusher. Not a lot of mounting options but I had plenty of success with what is shown.

Catching Aliens of Mandurah
Submitted by crasny1 on Tue, 2017-08-15 08:01Moving from Bouvard to Dudley Park (yeh, finally been able to get a smallish place on the canals). So our exit point from the Estuary will change from the Cut to the river mouth.
Squidding has always been one of our fun things to catch, and rightly so the deckie calls them Aliens. Looking at Google earth the area off Doddies looks like prime squid country. Just wondering whether it is worth a bash, because our fishing spots for especially whiting hasn't really produced squid of Bouvard/Cut. Will still chase our favourite eating fish of the mouth towards Jane Service (whiting) but a by-catch of squid would be great (plus fresh squid tentacles is the beast of baits for whiting).
Any info appreciated but NOT asking for spots!
Regards
Neels

Lockhart River QLD
Submitted by beachsoul on Mon, 2017-08-14 07:34My son has scored some work that will have in Lockhart River. He will need to travel light as he is flying in and can squeeze in a 3 peice rod rated to 7kg ( going to fish 9 kg on it ) and a few lures
Has anyone been there, can you recommend any fishing spots that are not too far out

Landbased fishing at Willie Creek near Broome
Submitted by Gadsy on Sun, 2017-08-13 20:06Just wondering if anyone has done any landbased fishing at Willie Creek near Broome, or is it strictly tinnie fishing here? Have seen signs warning of croc sightings here, so very wary of the old salties being present.
Would no doubt be threadies etc on offer.
The track in here is pretty nasty that's for sure!

Livebaiting - how do you approach ?
Submitted by 420casts on Sun, 2017-08-13 19:25Planning some boat missions in the coming time and this lead us to discuss bait options, primarily livebaiting, and better ways to do it.
I've always hooked my liveys through the shoulder and tail with a two hook rig, or just the shoulder for a single. I'm wanting to really work out if the same approach is gonna work fine if I add weight to the rig down to the hook or even add a swivel ? All thoughts welcomed . . .

Community Spirit
Submitted by selthy on Sun, 2017-08-13 18:53We read a few negative posts on here so thought I would post a great example of community spirit to start this new week.
I went down to my local park this afternoon to practice a few casts. I was pleased with my first few casts and quickly discovered a 6oz star sinker can bury itself quite deep in grass.
I was pulling the sinker out of the grass when a gentleman who had walked the length of the park approached me. I was expecting it to be a local about to have a go at me for throwing some lead bullets around his park. Instead, he pulled out a lead blob and started to offer some tips on my technique. As it would turn out he is an experienced competitive dry caster, rod builder and nice guy. I'm not sure if he thought my casting needed a lot of work or if he was just pleased to see another idiot rock up to fish at his local park! Whichever it was, I'm greatful for his advice and wanting to help out a fellow fisherman.
Thanks to everyone on here who is keen to share their knowledge.

Big transducers- mounting options - Ali Hull - not TM
Submitted by ChrisG on Sun, 2017-08-13 15:37crew,
wonder if anyone has any pics they could post on how they've mounted a 2-3kw transducer on a Ali hull? And how performs?
TM isn't preferred
wet faced or tank mount info is what I'm chasing please.
Going on a 7-8m trailer boat so fairings that can be fouled by trailer is a concern

NBN what a sick joke (not fishing related).
Submitted by meglodon on Sat, 2017-08-12 15:00Is anybody experiencing massive corruption and drop outs with NBN today, the speed that I'm getting at the moment is so slow it would be far quicker to send mail via the snail mail even if we have to pay more for less service.
I find it very very frustrating to pay a good dollar and have to put up with such a crappy unreliable slow service, I don't know if weather plays a part in causing these problems or not but I had far far better service when I was on ADSL11.
How this country can say we will help the USA if things turn pear shape with Nth Korea I don't know, we can't get a damn internet service to be reliable after throwing bucket loads of money at it and taking away peoples choice of what service they want.
You can have NBN or NBN or NBN now what do you want.
Rant over

fishing license
Submitted by Gav475 on Thu, 2017-08-10 15:06just a reminder to check you fbl. Just got my renewal today and found the expiry was 1 week ago. I know its my responsibility to be on top of these things but could have been messy if I had been out for a fish . Luckily work and the weather have stopped me.
Always try to do the right thing but shows how easily you can get tripped up.

crabbing
Submitted by Sea goat on Wed, 2017-08-09 17:21HI guys. fairly new to boat ownership and have been trying my hand at crabbing in the swan river.
just a couple of questions:
1: am I wasting my time in winter?
2: any tips on bait? I mainly been using old meat and stuff, but so far zero success. best to use fish?
I have only really ever caught them by scooping or snorkelling before, so not sure what the go is with the drop nets.
Cheers!
