Rod for Stella5000sw
Submitted by ross58 on Tue, 2013-03-19 09:49Hi guys,
I have been lucky enough to be given a Stella 5000sw as a farewell gift from work.
Awesome reel and fits into my range very well. (thanks to my son giving the necessary advise to my work colleagues).
Can anyone suggest a good one piece rod to suit. Want to be able to cast poppers, lure and plastics but also ok for bottom bouncing. Would think something around 61/2 to 7 foot?

5m ali boat. Where should I stay in Exmouth
Submitted by Boppo on Mon, 2013-03-18 17:31Heading up to Exxy in May and was wondering where should I be staying. Mate and I will have our wives in tow and they are thinking a house in the Marina , we are thinking a chalet around the lighthouse caravan park or Yardie caravan park. We have a 5m ali. Will be happy getting tuna and macks and not to bothered about bottom dwellers. Seems to be the go to launch on the western side and fish behind the reef but was wondering if there are many pelagics caught on the gulf side thus saving a fair hike with the boat each day if we lose out to the women. Just remember...'a happy wife is a happy life' ;-)

How too and Can you catch Crays in Exmouth ?
Submitted by Paul N on Mon, 2013-03-18 12:25I'm not a freediver or into crayfishing but one of the crew is ( coming from Sydney for the trip ) Heading to Exmouth in a couple of weeks and he wanted to know if we could drop a couple of pots for Crays . Told him I think there are only Painted Creys up that way and they don't go into pots ( not sure ). I have never seen any pots up there .
Am I correct in saying that ?, and the only way to get them is to dive and snare them ?
If you can snare them are they any good to eat ?
Cheers

Exmouth Accommodation suggetions
Submitted by dalaisc on Mon, 2013-03-18 07:38Sup Peeps
Annual Exmouth pilgrimage dates have been set (9 – 19 May 2013) however we have missed out on our normal budget accommodation. As we spend most of the time sleeping on the boat over on the islands we tend to just book cheapish accommodation. In the past we have stayed in the demountable chalets right in the town but as mentioned we have missed out on those.
Any suggestions on a place to stay that is walking distance to the Potshot.
4 people going.

$70 At bcf .
I'm not saying it's the cheapest price on the internet but its much better than retail stores. Amazon is a solid trusted website btw.

Warnbro sound
Submitted by pominoz87 on Sun, 2013-03-17 21:59Hi, new member here, long time lurker with tons of questions.
Had my boat 2 months now and feel like I've got used to the way it handles in most sorts of conditions now. It's a swiftcraft 5.3 meter with a 90hp, have taken to rottnest once on a good day although skipped over a reef as well as a call out to sea rescue with engine problems and an incident with a buoy early on at night lol. Anyway, now the novelty of boating has worn off its all about the fishing.
Most of my fishing has been in Warnbro sound and I've really caught sweet f.a apart from a few 50cm tailor, garfish, a boltcutter and way too many trumpeters. I've been given a hundred different co ords for the tyre reef and sounded it more times to mention with no luck. Tried the D9 once and carnac with no luck apart from a nice bream. Warnbro sound really seems dead to me not a lot of structure although to be honest I haven't been too far up around the reefs due to being a bit worried about all the breaking waves out there.
Also I'm looking to join a club or something seeing as the girlfriend is seasick in a one meter swell and my mates are t into the fishing. Any clubs around rockingham or cockburn sound? Cheers guys

How did the boaties go today?
Submitted by Clown Fish on Sun, 2013-03-17 18:45Just wondering how the boaties went today. We had the weirest drift. Very strong north current out of cervantes. The wind speed on a normal day would see me chuck out the sea anchor but we were holding ground with 8oz in 40m with a strong southerly.

Night Fishing
Submitted by fishmad69 on Sun, 2013-03-17 16:24Hey Guys Does anyone doing any night fishing around the Two Rocks area? I have always want to go out fishing at night but cray pots are worrying me. They are hard enough to see during the day let alone at night especially those black floats that have been sitting for a few months. We run past a couple every time with out spotting them so I can only imagine it is harder at night even with spot lights on the boat. Just interested if many people do go fishing at night? Cheers

They nail some good salmon on both lures and baits from land so well worth the watch and it includes Tech talk too!
Next weeks show is meant to be the much anticipated Cockburn Pink Snapper show. With some good fish landed also.
The following week is the final episode and concludes the season with Highlights of series 13 and all the bloopers and out takes that go with it.
The Boys will be getting ready to start their filming again in the coming months which will include some exciting stuff. So feel free to tune in this arvo and enjoy.

Rod/Reel Match
Submitted by Poppy on Sun, 2013-03-17 09:24Hi guys/gals. I'm heading up to Jurien in a couple of weeks to go out with Whitey. The main rod and reel I'll be using is an Abu Garcia 15kg (5'7") Sonar Tip rod, coupled with a Fin Nor Offshore 9500 reel loaded with 30lb braid. I would really appreciate some feedback on this combination please. Should I look at a rod with a bit more "give", because this one does seem a little on the stiff side. I don't really want to buy a new reel, because the Fin Nor is great, although a little heavy. My other bottom bouncing rig is the entry level Penn 330GTI combo, also loaded with 30lb braid. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Cheers

Another marlin tagged and released in jurien pics added
Submitted by botti on Sat, 2013-03-16 22:06Hey people headed up to jurien yesterday the 15th march for day trip with seasport charters. Determine to better our jigging skills we jigged hard all day and were well rewarded for our effort with baldys every where and a nice dhiue around the 7kg mark which was released. But it wasn't just the fish we where rewarded with it was the the priceless advice given from whitey and Ritcho and being able to fish the front deck next to them was awesome. Little did we know our day wasn't over yet we started heading back in so we put the trolling gear out the back and got about 5 mile out when the two bonga jerks we were trolling were hit and started dancing on the surface and then the rod with the skirt started screaming. The rod was soon grabbed by Luke (captain grumpy) and before I knew what was going on there was a black marlin jumping around going ballistic. Whitey and Ritcho yelling Instuctions and chasing the fish down the fish was boat side within minutes. The fish was tagged and boated for a few quick happy snaps and then released to fight another day. It was estimated to be about 25kg but a black marlin is a black marlin. Anyway just wanted to say a massive thanks to whitey and Ritcho for an unreal day and recommend I can't recommend them enough
