Purchased a pair of owner gp20 split ring pliers a few months ago. Was assured they were quality and stainless. I dont mind paying for top quality. Well trust me these aint stainless steel. After five trips out in the boat and a few reef flat walks and being washed and spray with inox in between sees them just about binnable. Will be buying a pair of cheapys again. Last shimano ones lasted 15 years and were still shiny when they eventually broke. Any recommendations from anyone on some quality small split ring pliers that are stainless and will last?

Received an email from fisheries research yesterday, asking for whiting frames and also stating that there has been an increase in yellowfin whiting numbers over the past two to three years. I personally put this increase down to the fact that with the surface lure revolution so many more people are fishing for them, and to me, all that added pressure makes the 30 fish per day bag limit a bit of a worry. KG's are eight/day, herring down to twelve...and both rightly so, imo, so wouldn't it make sense to reduce the YFW limit as well?

The standard for the AUS is 2.5m Is it just the standard permit i need to apply through main roads? Or have i hit a road block here...? Brett

a little advise about Diesel fuel please.
I just purchased my new Ford Everest, which is a Diesel, same drive train & motor as the Ford Ranger.
My question is, as first time owning a diesel, are all diesel fuels the same, or should I be using a particular brand???
thanks in advance

Hit the South cost for a bit of diveing on the weekend. Cant name the Location as i was blind folded for the drive in. Rolled in on Saturday n did a shore dive from the beach resulting in 10 green lips & 2 Southern crays. Had a few beers n chucked out a couple baits as we watched the sun set mate got a run but snapped it off suspecting a big Ray. Hooked up with some other guys down there on sunday n had an epic session out deeper from the boat nailing more Abbs a mix of Southern & Western crays from sizys to jumbos, a few fish including a team effort PB blue Groupper, got a shot off at it with the spear gun but the spear didnt hold, however as i was surfacing i found the blokes on the boat with a landing net pulling him in after it floated belly up to the top.

Hi guys. A bit more info about Two Rocks. Contract awarded for Two Rocks upgradeMonday, 9 November 2015 Page Content Work starts this month to double the boat launching capacity at Two Rocks Marina. Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the $681,042 contract had been awarded to Engineered Water Systems for the second stage of improvements at Two Rocks Marina. This brings to $1.2 million, the value of improvements at the facility this year to improve safety and ease delays for skippers launching vessels at the increasingly popular marina. In July, the State Government completed the first stage of works. The $525,014 investment provided extra car parking and trailer bays, up from 38 to 99, plus a new overflow parking area and new traffic management measures to ease congestion at peak times. Stage two, partly funded by the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS) will see the installation of a 50-metre floating jetty. The boat ramp will also be widened to provide two distinct lanes. Work will be undertaken to refurbish the jetty, realign the revetment wall, provide an access path, solar lighting and new signage. These works will be completed by early next year. Every effort will be made to maintain access to a single launch ramp during construction. However, the ramp may be closed for a short period in February 2016 to allow for drainage works at the top of the ramp. Users will be advised in advance of the closure and can stay up-to-date with progress of the works by visiting http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/two-rocks-project https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au/Pages/Barnett/2015/11/Contract-awarded-for-Two-Rocks-upgrade.aspx

Hi guys, I need assistance with a better setup on my trailer, as it is a pain in the ass to retrieve my boat. The current setup has keel rollers with just 2 wedges on the stern of the trailer, and works shit. The nose of the boat has no guide, and if the trailer is not fully submersed and the ute is driven into the water, the winching in of the boat is hard work and grinding the rear of the boat onto the stern wedges, and the boat does not centralise... This always makes an unpleasent retrieve and pisses me off after a good day out. I know I can take $5K to Dunbier and get a ride on trailer, but the boat is only worth about $8K, so that is not an option.. Looked around the internet, and heaps of wobble roller sets and guides and stuff, and it looks like about $500 could sort it if I fitted the bits, but... if I select the wrong bits and sit with more issues, thats a waste of money.. Who would assist down Rocko way, or even do a reasonably priced job to fit these rollers, or be able to advise me on the ideal setup with these wobble rollers and new guides. It is a 5.5m fibreglass runabout with a single v hull - nothing too complicated..?

Its interesting to see what the other states are doing to improve recreational fishing. I see here that NSW now have a Go Fishing Day www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/go-fishing-nsw The Qld Govt have opened up the majority of their drinking water dams to fishing and with the huge success of the Barra stocked dams many people have been travelling to them to chase Barra rather than the NT. The NT Govt has then encouraged fisherman to chase Barra up there with the million Dollar Barra competition. I also see that the Vic govt has promised 16 million to be spent creating and upgrading infrastructure for recreationl fishing and estimates that its economy is boosted by 7.1 billion $$ a year from Rec fishing. www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/recreational-fishing-boosts-victorias-economy-by-71-billion-report-finds/news-story/974f5fce7d7c23624d7821cc95c2f9ad The Tasmanian Govt has long realised the value of recreational fishing and fostered and promoted its Trout fishing for years. Things were looking up when the liberal govt promised to create a fishing hub in Wellington Dam prior to the last election but that seems to have died in the ass before a single fish was even stocked. Apart from a few lumps of concrete dumped off the coast what else has the WA govt done to improve/promote fishing?

Hey guys
Thinking of heading down to Denmark after Christmas and taking the boat (7.3m Bar Crusher). Are there any ocean side boat ramps now? Having never been there before and only having the handbrake to help me, beach launching is out of the question. There are some old forums topics which advise that there is only beach launching to get to the ocean as the inlet is mostly closed off. Just hoping that some new infrastructure may have been installed!!!!!!!
Cheers

Hello all, I need some advice please I have never fished Gnaraloo but have an opportunity to visit April 2016. I am a little inexperienced with fishing but am paying several people to organize food/accomodation/fuel/gear etc I will pay for them to bring a boat there and launch it and take me and my son out. I don't have time for a long road trip so the original plan was to fly into Carnarvon and get picked up by my friends and driven to Ganaraloo. The only probems is that Skippers Aviation is not taking bookings at present as apparently the Perth-Carnarvon flight is up for tender and this hasn't been formalized yet. Is it thus an option to fly into Learmonth and get driven to Gnaraloo? It doen't look too far on Google Earth but I appreciate that looks are decieving and in reality it may be a longer bumpier drive I would appreciate it if anyone has any experience and can please advise Regards R

The New Series 16 of Fishing Western Australia will start Sunday 6th December 2015 BUT, it will now be airing on 7mate National which is great news (well done). Fishing Western Australia is the longest running fishing TV show in Australia and the ratings are high. Shop owner and TV presenter Ryan Thipthorp travels & fishes up and down our great coastline with Harry Baumann as co-presenter. The show is based on catching fish but more importantly adding in the very important tech talk/info that many people are looking for in a fishing show. The boys have filmed at spots they haven't visited for a long time plus some new locations. This new series has a good spread of different species and techniques including a few landbase shows also. Oceanside Tackle and Marine are a proud sponsor of the Fishing WA TV series this season. All shows will be airing every Sunday until early April 2016 and check your local guide for the airing time. Last year we kept Fishwrecked members up to date re what shows are coming up and we'll continue to do that this series (stay tuned)
