Help with Drag Washer - Okuma Titus 50w
Submitted by Paul N on Fri, 2010-04-16 18:12The drag on my Okuma Titus 50w reel was starting to get sticky and hard to adjust. I have taken it appart and found that the drag washer has gone fluffy ( for want of a better word ). I have turned the washer over and when using the other side of the washer , the drag is now smooth . I have a spare washer and intend to put that one in . My question is , should the washer be dry or oiled . The original washer seems to be dry but not sure if it should be oiled or not.
Thanks for any help

marlin damage
Submitted by looking4mulloway on Fri, 2010-04-16 14:35Dont think i have seen these photos here yet
These
are pictures of the floating load hose on the FPSO Girassol in Angola, Africa
that was pierced by a blue marlin. Load operations were shut down for a few days
while
they
replaced the hose. For reference, this terminal produces about 250k barrels of
oil a day and this loading hose is approx 24in in diameter.

Abrohlos excursion
Submitted by Peter Lim92 on Wed, 2010-04-14 01:01Hi all,am new to the site and am seeking advice/recommendations to making trips to the Abrohlos with my boat.I have a Trophy 2052WA and wonder whether boats this size is safe enough to make the journey which I believe, is about 55miles offshore.Though I do often fish way offshore in Perth (west of Rotto) usually on my own, I would love to join a convoy to the Abrohlos. And if anybody is interested in fishing in the continental shelf in Perth, it will be great if you can join me in your boats.

Boat cover
Submitted by fords_rule85 on Tue, 2010-04-13 22:52Hey guys, i have just picked up my new boat and need a cover for it as it will be stored outside not in a shed. The boat is a trailcraft freestyle 4.75m runabout and i would like a cover that i could travel with it on if required, eg going up north. If anyone knows of any good places to get something like this please let me know, SOR would be easier but anywhere in Perth is ok. Thanx

Late Breaking News!

KWINANA APPEAL
Cyclone Shazza hit Kwinana this afternoon..
Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly, muttering 'Faaackinell'.
The storm devastated the area causing approximately $30 worth of
damage.
Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals were
woken well before their Centrelink (Social Welfare) cheques arrived. The Kwinana Times
reported that hundreds of residents were confused and bewildered and were
still trying to come to terms with the fact that something interesting had happened in Kwinana.
One resident - Tracy Maree Sharon Britney Madonna Smith, a 15-year-old
mother of 5 said 'It was such a shock, my little Chardonnay-Mercedes came
running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two Joachim and River slept
through it all.'
Apparently, looting, muggings and car crime were unaffected and carried
on as normal. The Australian Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000
crates of Bacardi-Breezers to the area to help the stricken locals.
Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found
large quantities of personal belongings, including Health Care Cards, Jewellery
from Kmart, and Bone China from Big W.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those
unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster. Clothing is most
sought after - items most needed include: flannelette shirts, tight blue
jeans or spandex, singlets (blue & white) white sport socks, Ugg boots
and any other items usually sold in Priceline or The Reject Shop.
Food parcels may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same.
Required foodstuffs urgently needed include: Microwave meals, Baked
beans, Ice cream, Chips, Fizzy drinks.
Donations of $15.00 will be taken to buy a packet of winny blue 25s and a
lighter to calm the nerves of those affected.
**Breaking news**
Kwinana Uniting Church has cancelled their local 'Nativity Display' due
to their inability to find three wise men or a virgin. Please don't forward
this to anyone living in Kwinana - oh, stuff it, they won't be able to
read it, anyway!
(Oh i ripped this off an Email thought it kinda fitted the storm warnings)

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Maybe I can get it written off and get a new one!
What to do when your sitting next to someone who is p*ssing you off on a plane
1. Take out your laptop
2. Slowly open your laptop.
3. Turn it on.
4. Make certain your neighbour is watching.
5. Open your Internet browser.
6. Close your eyes for a few moments, open them, and then look up to the ceiling.
7. Breathe deeply and open this site: http://www.myit-media.de/the_end.html
8. Look at the expression on your neighbour's face!

Salmon Season
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Thu, 2010-04-08 22:32With salmon season here they are on the run.
Its time for many to have some fun.
Running yourself ragged up and down the beach.
Only to find the school just out of reach.
Finding the schools tends to be word of mouth.
With a lot of people hitting the south.
When they finally reach the local beaches.
There will be so many fishers chasing these creatures.
We can only hope they come in close enough.
So the land based fishers wont have to do it so tough.
Weather you just catch and release or keep one for dinner.
If you get a few your going to be a winner.
The season comes and goes so fast.
The fun never really seems to last.
For the ones that have got themselves a boat.
Sometimes they can tend to gloat.
As they make their way out to rotto.
The land based guys tend to go troppo.
As the schools disappear up the coast.
You might find a lot will tend to boast.
My biggest this year went up to ten kg.
I told you that you should have come with me.
Never mind or never fear.
They will always be around next year.

Is it the way you hold your tongue, or what
Submitted by Alan James on Wed, 2010-04-07 19:00The recent post about holiday makers northward bound reminded me of this. Filling the 4x4 regularly with petrol between Perth and Exmouth (boat attached) I have found is sometimes a tedious experience. At some service stations the petrol flows freely from the bowser where at others it shuts off after with anything more than a trickle fill rate. Minilya servo springs to mind as one of the tricklers.
What goes, is it me?

Austal, I take my hat off to you, a company with guts and vission
Submitted by Tony Halliday on Wed, 2010-04-07 07:54http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/newshome/7028665/luxury-ferry-keeps-workers-afloat/
many companies boot workers out faster than prune juice smoothy!
Yet Austal had the guts and faith to sink $100m into a project with no buyer yet, keep 400 workers in a job and take the leap of faith.
Thats what I call a good company and one I'd work for.
Not like the other major pr!cks that laid us off faster than flies and now cry to get us back to work for them when the swing moves up again,
Bravo Austal, You are a real world player and a company to be honored,
the rest of them that laid off workers to keep the fat pay packets in the directors hip-pockets, hope you learn a lesson from this.
ps I know of one company that laid off 40 workers for about 60 days till the project was to start up again and then wondered why no one want's to work for them now.
