No drive on
Submitted by Paul G on Wed, 2010-01-20 06:23Was talking to the guys at Two Rocks marina the other day and they have had a engineer check the ramp, it is structurally stuffed .He was saying it’s from people driving on their trailers which is going to have to stop or they will put a weight limit on the ramp, that will mean only small boats .They will be taking photos of anyone driving on and they could be prosecuted .so anyone heading this way do the right thing and winch your boats on, or go somewhere else.

Foldaboat
Submitted by carnarvonite on Tue, 2010-01-19 23:11Does anyone know where there is an agent/dealer in WA for Foldaboats
Long story behind it,an old mate was pumping up his rubber raft that he uses to get from shore out to his 26 foot launch Dorothea-was pictured on this site ages ago.Well the raft was on the back of his F250 and to reach it he needed to stand on a small step and sure enough he fell backwards off the step fracturing his skull from ear to ear[Boxing day]and has just been released from hospital. His missus has put both feet down and said "NO MORE RUBBER RAFT",so the nearest thing that will do the job is a foldaboat or very small dinghy/tender like the yachties use.
Any suggestions welcome
John

Xtreme Coolers hit Rotto
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Tue, 2010-01-19 20:56Hi all
Many thanks to all of the fishwrecked community who i have been in contact with over the past few weeks. With a weeks or so remaining in January there is still plenty of time to take advantage of the latest specials. I will be at Rottnest for the next week and will only be able to be contacted by phone. Please do not hesitate to call me on 0403978583. You will still be able to get cooler boxes this week as i have organised a mate to handle the orders and deliveries. I might even get to wet a line while i am there.
Be back online in a week
Regards
Dave

message for whoever
Submitted by davey on Tue, 2010-01-19 17:47On arriving home today i was met by an elderly gentleman who had mistaken my boat for one he had encountered on tuesday.
here is his story
whilst boarding his boat from a pontoon the boat moves and caused him to fall into the water, being fully clothed and having swallowed lots of water he was really struggling to stay afloat, his friend jumped into the water to try to assist but also struggled to cope.
just in the nick of time a small boat came alongside and the guy (unknown) rescued the two gents from what was a life threatening situation.
a trip to the hospital was required to fix up the gentlemen.
I have been asked to post up a very simple message to the rescuer.
Thank you....
whoever you are you almost certainly saved lives by your actions and are to be congratulated for your heroic actions.
please guys if you know this person would you pass on the message as the gentleman was unable to get his details
cheers

my new computer
Submitted by HuggyB on Tue, 2010-01-19 17:39The last one was over 4 years old and starting to get a bit long in the tooth, so myself and a mate each built ourselves identical new computers just after the new year.
I wanted an i7, but common sense and finances stepped in and in the end I got a pentium i5 rig instead with the pista reistance, dual 24" monitors (try it, you'll never go back to one monitor!). I now want a third one so I can watch TV at the same time
(above the other 2, maybe 32"). If that happens, all I will need is a bar fridge and a toilet and I wont have to leave the computer room........
Now that I have that all set up, I'm focusing on my rods, reels, lures, fly tying area to go in the same room. I'll post pics of what I come up with. I have some ideas, but not sure how they will go. Should be fun either way.......

Lure colours, which colours do fish see more prodominantley and what colours are your favourates?
Submitted by Decella on Tue, 2010-01-19 10:39I have my own opinion on this subject but will reserve it to see how the post goes.
I am intersted to see what,
- type of lure is your favourate ( the one that catches more species than any other) and why, apart from twisties.
- what colour do you prefer.
- modifications you have made to the lure or any other lures.
and most of all in your opinion which colours do fish see more prodominantley, for example one of the last colours we see is green.

you know you are in Mandurah when.........
Submitted by HuggyB on Tue, 2010-01-19 07:34- you are following a p plate driver in a brand new honda civic with a sticker saying "buy australian to save australian jobs"
- you walk around the shopping centre and wonder why there are so many 14 year old girls here and why are they not in school, but then you realise they are busy looking after their 2 babies
- you pull up next to a brand new toyota prado D4D with a 1 foot high bonnet scoop off a funny car
- a p plater in a ford diesel ute races you at the lights and has a blow off valve
- a commodore wagon had not only neon lights under his car, but on his roof rack as well
- 1 or 2 australian flags isn't strayan enough, I counted a 4WD yesterday with 7 aussie flags and 3 boxing kangaroo ones as well - if they had room I'm sure they would have clipped on more to the side windows
- primer is a popular car colour, followed closely by mismatched panel colours
- you are beyond 65 years of age and look like you have spent 49 of them sunbaking, yet you insist on wearing a fairly skimpy 2 piece bikini to the major shopping centre
- you see an old bloke drive a gopher with neons that are pulsating
- you see a group of 15 year old girls wolf whistling trolley boys
I swear I could write a book about the place.

Dacron on Trolling Setups
Submitted by Paully on Sat, 2010-01-16 21:33At the risk of asking a silly question, can anyone explain the purpose of a length of dacron betweena double and wind on leader when it comes to trolling setups. I have seen it a few times and have never really understood why this is done. Is the double and wind on leader somehow joined inside the dacron ? or is the dacron a joiner between the two, hope I haven't confused anyone.
Cheers

Fishing Coral Bay
Submitted by Paully on Sat, 2010-01-16 15:56Gday, I just wanted to get some thoughts on shore based fishing in Coral Bay. I am going up there, although not for a few months yet and am keen to give the SP's a go on the flats, and any other suitable lure. I have heard that Thread fin Salmon can be caught of the beach in the Point Maud area (Not sure about that, didn't think they would be so far south?) Any advice Re lures/species would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Understanding your echo sounder.
Submitted by mrwinta on Sat, 2010-01-16 06:44Ok... I have a Navman combo 6507 trackfish which I bought with my boat 2 years ago but I still don't understand it completly... I have learned most of its functions and that aint the problem.... when I try to distinguish between sandy, muddy, reefy, weedy, flat coral etc I just don't have a clue what the difference between them is which is affecting my ability to discover any new ground of my own.. If you have any prefered settings on your unit would you tell me them so I can check that it aint just my set up...
I would be greatfull of any tips... Cheers guys..

Weekend away - Waroona
Submitted by esrun59 on Fri, 2010-01-15 09:19Heading down to Waroona Dam this weekend for what should have been a nice relaxing time with just the 6 of us... It's now turning into "Ben-Hur"; we will now be taking up 3 camp sites, with 9 kids 6 adults and probably a lot of noise!
I have got my rods and lures sorted so I hope I catch something, thankfully the kids don't need a licence and hopefully any of the other adults who want to fish have organised theirs.
I'm sure it will be a fun weekend and with any luck some fish to go with it, I'll post some fish pics if any of us get lucky. I should be still sane when we come home

If any one does know a Jamie Sherlock who was at the 4wd expo in November 09, i would be very greatful as i really want to get his box to him. I know, a long shot, but all of my ringing around has turned up nothing.
