Reef 1 Trawler nil
Submitted by carnarvonite on Thu, 2009-12-31 17:27Took a drive up the coast today to have a look at the trawler that came in a couple of days back.By all accounts they had trouble with their auto pilot and found themselves nearly high and dry.Carnarvon sea rescue got the may day call around 830pm and they couldn't get the crew off untill first light the next morning. It made a long day for the rescue boat crew, radio operator and crew of another fishing vessel standing by waiting for conditions to improve enough to enact the rescue.
In the end it was done safely without any injuries or damage to rescue crews or vessels.A job well done in trying conditions

polarising filter
Submitted by HuggyB on Thu, 2009-12-31 10:20OK, the parents splashed out (with a small donation fom me) and got me a Canon G11 for xmas and I have since order an adapter tube (58mm) for it.
I was looking at filters (Hoya) but there are like 3 different types of 58mm circular polarising lenses to choose from!?! Which one? Or another brand?

Serious problem!!!!
Submitted by wayno05 on Wed, 2009-12-30 19:09Hey guys i really need some advice for a serious problem.
I suspected for some time now, that the missus has been cheating.
The usual signs:phone rings,if i answer the caller hangs up,shes going out on girls nights alot....
I try to stay awake until she comes home but I usually fall asleep.
Any way last night bout midnight,I hid in the shed behind the boat, when she got home she got out of some ones car,she was buttoning up her blouse and took her panties out of her purse and slipped them on.
It was at that moment crouched behind the boat i noticed it......
A hairline crack in the outboard mounting bracket..
is that something i can weld ,or do i need to replace it?

Beach Shacks - Wedge & Grey......... do they still exist ?
Submitted by kaney68 on Wed, 2009-12-30 09:54Just wondering if the beach shacks up around Wedge and Grey are still in existance, or has the government moved everyone on and demolished them ?
I know this is something I should have done years ago, but I want to (if they are still around) do a photo documentary/feature on the shacks/lifestyle in these areas before (if it's not already) too late !
Any info would be greatly appreciated..
cheers,
Paul

Run foe home
Submitted by Paul G on Wed, 2009-12-30 09:02Headed out yesterday for a fish left around 3:30 condisions were good, light winds. Was good to see the fisheries hitting the ramp and chacking all boat coming in .The fish were alittle quiet ,with not much happening on most patches we tryed ,we released five dhuies all undersize lost one around the 10kg mark .Jesse spent all day in the water taken video of the fish.Around 7:00 the wind swung and shit it came quick by the time we got back it was blowing 30knots ,still the haines powered home at a steady 25knots.In all a good day on the water.

How's the health of the Swan river?
Submitted by Decella on Wed, 2009-12-30 08:30G'day All,
I have been fishing the river for the past week now and was wondering how is everyone travelling in regards to catch rate and variety of fish. I have targeted the lower reach of the swan and have been doing well on Lizards on lures. They are not huge but very entertaining on light gear. I have seen quite a few fellas drop netting and was wondering whats been caught.
I ask the question because I have not heard of Giant Herring, Muddies or Cobbler been caught for a while now.

Props
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Tue, 2009-12-29 05:18Just curious as to what the difference is between stainless props and the painted steel ones? do you get any better speeds out of the stainless as there isnt any paint or are they just there to give the boat a bit of bling

Some People Never learn!!!
Submitted by Paul G on Mon, 2009-12-28 16:21Anyone fishing out of Two Rocks yesterday get checked by the Fisheries?? As I heard there were 2 car loads checking all boats late in the arvo. From what I hear 1 large blue centre console got done with undersized crays and over bag limit of demersil fish. I get called negative when I say people do this regularly so hopefully the Fisheries fine him big time and make an example of him.

Submitted by Kelvin8r on Sun, 2009-12-27 18:05Gday Guys,
I've got a mate coming down and he wants to do some underwater photography of the HMAS Swan wreck and the sea dragons in Geographe Bay?
Does anyone know of some of the better dive operators who do this type of thing?
Cheers,

warning to all about battery chargers
Submitted by Tony Halliday on Sun, 2009-12-27 17:36well for those that did not know, our Christmas started off two weeks back badly with a battery charger catching fire on the boat. We had put the batteries on charge for a shake down run before going this week ( well we were meant to :(...)to Rotto.
but sadly that Rotto trip never happened, as the charger over heated and set the deck carpet and cabin insulation alight.
Took fire brigade 40minutes to get there, even though we were only 8km away from the station, due to only volunteers now manning the Midland Fire Brigade after hours on a weekend!!! WTF...god help us if it had been the house! and as the boat was less than 4m from the house, it nearly was the house too,
oh well, it ended sad, but luckily no one got hurt.
A Big thanks to all my neighbours and those driving by that ran to help with hoses and support.
So, we learn t the hard-way, no matter how big and heavy a battery is, take it out and charge it on the ground.

Christmas tree full of memories
Submitted by Paul G on Thu, 2009-12-24 06:34Here’s one for all with new families, since the birth of our first child we every year buy a decoration for them, most have a photo in them of the child they were bought for, when the kids were old enough they pick their own .Over the years we have a great collection of family decorations (photo’s) on the tree, every year its great putting all the decorations on the tree, seeing the photo’s, everyone has a good time and some laughs. Now come time for the kids to move on ,they will get their decorations to put on their tree and start adding their children’s photo’s ,and so on .Over some years would end up like a family tree .Just thought I would share this with you especially the ones with new families ,Merry Christmas

One More Sleep
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Thu, 2009-12-24 05:07I know that many on here have young kids that would be likely to get you up at some ungodly hour (ok if your going fishing) to see what pressies they have got. for us the kids are likely to sleep in now as they are 17 and 18. what time do your kids get up and wake you or are you the big kid and wake everyone up ?
