Spungy floor
Submitted by synthos on Sat, 2015-01-17 15:01ALo ALo so last year I recarpeted her she looks mint so now I have noticed on one side the flor has a bit of give to it... about a 1m x 80cm area not to bad in the rear corner, yes I am a big guy but even lighter people feel it so I try not to step on that area, it sucks as she has new carpet could the floor boards in that area require replacing ? its a fiber hull about 2006 it only on one side everywhere else seems solid so currently we just all try to avoid it.
Anyone have any input ?
Thanks

rocket launcher
Submitted by rooboy111 on Sun, 2015-01-11 10:58Hi Everyone
Just wondering if anybody has opinions/advice on fitting a rocket launcher to a 5.4 Allycraft ?
It's not my boat it's my brother in laws ( ours :) ) but we've been trying to find a solution to rod storage while on the boat for ages but we have never really sorted it. We did fit a pretty el cheapo rod holder to the inside of the boat but it's just not good enough.
The problem is the boat is plenty big enough to have them resting in front of the seats when we're traveling and fishing but when the clears are up ( which is all the time ) there just is simply not enough room.
So anyway my suggestion was to look at fitting a set of rocket launchers above the bimny frame so the clears can still go up but I have no idea where to start looking or even if it'll be worth doing it at all ?
Cheers, Chris

90hp Etec prop
Submitted by bouttime on Fri, 2015-01-09 15:57Guys,
Looking for what prop size i need on the Galeforce. A bit of a long shot as i dont know what size prop i have on it now as there is no markings. Problem i have is will only rev to 4600 with 2 on board and about 27knts. I have a foil comming to help with stern lift as i have no trim range and hope a new prop will increase revs to give better mid range. I am guessing a 15 inch prop and pitch or even a bit smaller.
Any one have a simular combonation they can shed some light on.
Cheers

boat rego gone up again
Submitted by holth on Fri, 2015-01-09 13:11Just recieved my 2015 boat rego, up $20 on last year again.
Heres the increases from 2012 same boat.
2012 - $170
2013 - $174
2014 - $194
2015 - $214.
The pamplet that came with the rego explains where our money goes.
Boat rego fees support the delivery of boating related safety programs and infrastructure projects.
* boating safety education campaigns
* navigation aids
* signage
* compliance
* investigations
* grant programs for boat ramps and other public boating facilities.
More like topping up the govs pockets.

Ocean whaler 565
Submitted by Stevie on Thu, 2015-01-08 14:10Hi All
i am going to be buying my first boat in the next month or two and the Ocean Whaler 565 has caught my eye and seems to get a decent write up.
I have a budget of $35000 top end and have seen one advertised in Bunbury for $31K 2006 hull with a 90hp evinrude.
Just wondering if some of the owners in here can help me out with good and bad points and things to look out for. I have read all the posts I can find on them both here and in other sites. I understand Marineboy is having issues with water in the hull, is anyone else having the same issue and should this be putting me off these hulls?
I think realistically as it is my first boat I will have it checked out professionally but would like to have a look at it first before I pay for someone to check it out more thoroughly.
Also I am in Waikiki if any of you would be willing to take me out and show me what she is capable of there would be a case of beer in it and obviously all fuel paid for, I don't mind travelling.
Any other boats you think I should be considering?
Cheers
Steve

Progress report for new BAR CRUSHER.730HT----LIGHTS-CAMERA-ACTION!!
Submitted by t bone on Wed, 2015-01-07 19:13Gday all..
Here i am stuck out at work, bouncing off the walls like a kid on Christmas eve waiting to finish this tour and head home to take delivery of the new toy.
The lads at ALL BOATS in Perth have been great so far, im just hoping that continues past driving out the gate. She went into the paint shop just before the factory shut down for Chrissy break, but the cabin is painted a dark charcoal, with inside the cabin all blacked out. The plan from the start was to polish and seal the hull for something different. But since i had some problems with hand carrying "SHARKHIDE' polish back from the states, i need to try and find a equal product locally. OR, look into a nice wrap.
How many of you have got an Ally boat wrapped?? Ive heard stories about the UV damaging the vinyl and causing the pictures to fade?
Due to having a bit of another delay in delivery time, the lads at the dealership were nice enough to mount and wire up all my lights. When ppl ask if im scared of the dark, i ask them what IS dark???

Maxwell Anchormax Capstan
Submitted by Goin_Fushin. on Mon, 2015-01-05 21:24Has anybody got or used a Maxwell Anchormax capstan? I can't find any honest reviews anywhere apart from the suppliers.
I am looking to use it to haul the anchor. I know that hauling chain is not recommended but I think I have a solution for that.
Anyway I don't have room in the anchor well for a drum nor the depth for a vertical or horizontal windlass.
I currently use a anchor retriever (the one with the float) but it is hard to use when anchoring between and near reef.
Any other suggestions (apart from toughen up etc.) Makes/Models would be greatly appreciated.

Leeder 710 Thoughts & Opinions
Submitted by Browndog on Sun, 2015-01-04 12:31Hey crew, considering an upgrade to a Leeder 710 or similar, any thoughts or opinions? Just an idea at this stage. Use would be as an all rounder, fishing, cruising & occasional overnights at the islands, perhaps an abrolhos trip one day!!
Have heard that old sterndrives can be a money pit, any tips on what to look for? Hoping to get one with an injected engine if possible, not a fan of carbies & petrol around hot things (except in muscle cars!)
Cheers guys,
Browndog.

Desperately need a new canopy
Submitted by fishboy009 on Sat, 2015-01-03 13:30Hi Everyone,
As you can see from the pics I am in need of some new shade and clears, due to the fact when I was pulling the boat out the tree decided to jump through it, ripping the shit out of it hence it having to be tied on now.
Just wanting some names of companys that are localish to Karrinyup and do a fair but reasonablely priced job (haha I hear you all laugh as were are talking about a boat here)
any feedback would be greatfully apprecated.

Baron Sportsman Under Floor
Submitted by stefanie on Mon, 2014-12-29 07:31Hi all.
I have a 5.5 Baron Sportsman. It currently has a Volvo 4 cylinder and out drive. I'm looking to repower with a V6 Merc and Alpha 1. Aside all the transom fun I know I'm going to have, I need to know how the stringer and/or rib spacing is layed out under the floor as I'm going to have to support the Merc with front engine mounts.
The Volvo is transom mounted only with no front supports but I'm not going to be able to swing the Merc in this fashion. I really don't want to have to tear up all the floor if I can avoid it. If I could just find a picture of what it will look like under there it may be enough to give me the clues where to start cutting. Or if I'm really lucky, someone out there in boating land may have the layout and measurments already documented some where.
I have seen these Barons with V6's and V8's fitted but I don't know how they did it. I think a V8 would start to boarder on the line of getting to heavy but I hoping the V6 will be ok. The old Volvo's are quite heavy as it is and the V6 Merc shouldn't increase the weight by enough to be throwing the balance out of wack. Weight low and forward has to provide a better balance and stability than those that have put pods and O/B's on them where the weight now transfers high and aft.
These are good old boats and mine has proven tuff as nails in the 4 years I've had it but it's repower time and it's going to be a nightmare without some freindly clues on these baby's from those that know them better than I do. It's what's under that floor that I need to know!
Cheers
Brett

poppet valve maintenance - recommended !
Submitted by JohnF on Sun, 2014-12-28 15:58Guys
Quick tip, it might be worthwhile taking your poppet valve out every couple of hundred hours, quick, cheap and easy job that might save you a lot of time and money down the track.
I did mine after 350 hrs, and the bolts were hard to get out, frozen in with a bit of ali corrosion, combined with threadlocker used on these bolts, meant a very careful inching of the bolts out so they did not snap.
Replaced the diaphragm and gasket and cleaned the seat as it looked like the poppet was sticking, everything else OK.
Worth pulling out semi regularly if only to pull the bolts out, wire btush clean and re-install or else you risk them snapping off.
Not much else to do with so many wind days.

old douglas craft 2nd hand, transom issue
Submitted by travis89 on Sun, 2014-12-28 11:30hello every one
Me and my mate have recently bought an old 4.5 metre Douglas craft from a dealer in balcatta and its been great so far! although we had checked thoroughly at the yard when we bought it, I have just found out today that the transom is in a terrible state. after peeling back some of the flaky glass inside the boat were the transom is I saw that water had definitely got into the wood...wasn't a big deal as the wood was solid in these parts, but closer to the center of the transom it gets much worst, I am able to slide a Stanley knife all the way to glass on the other side! anyway my question is, were do I stand here? should I take the boat back and make the salesman responsible or is it tuff luck and fix it myself? any guidance would be much appreciated

Barcrusher 680HT
Submitted by kuzi on Sun, 2014-12-21 10:35 Well after much deliberation I found a used 680HT which was up for sale at the Barcrusher factory in Vic which they were selling for a client. I flew over on Tuesday to view it on Wednesday and purchased the boat. Saved myself over $20K instead of purchasing a new 670HT and don't need to wait for 3-4 months for it to be built. Impatiently waiting for its arrival at the end of January. Just need to find a car to tow it now. Haha
